Naturally he was sh..tn bricks till a senior officer showed up and told him he wouldn't be going to jail. It was quite an ordeal, fortunately it ended well...except for siting in the back of a patrol car for 30 minutes. I told him he deserved it for not showing his CHL since I had told him and all of the students in his class to always display even if they had no handgun with them.
Re: My wife outed me
Wow, I can't believe I got everybody ALL riled up by saying to be careful and posting the Statute. I guess I am supposed to assume that everyone knows all the rules . If that's the case then great.
Carry on.

This is actually my biggest concern. It happens more than you think. One of my CHL students messed up after getting his plastic and failed to show his license when he got pulled over. The poor rookie cop was so freaked out that he cuffed him and stuffed him because as he said. "it was a felony to not display the license" . We know that is not true, and in fact the penalty for not displaying has been removed all together.
I was referring to the trouble one would have if caught with a CCW if the Hoaspital had a 30.06 posted. It's a Class A Misdemeanor.

Not trying to start an argument, however ...Pawpaw wrote:Not all hospitals are properly posted.
The closest one to us has "State law prohibits..." posted on the doors. In other words, carry on!
Personally I don't think it would be worth the legal battle and expense to prove your point on that one just so you can carry into a hospital. Do what you think is best, I'll leave mine locked away.

Re: My wife outed me
To answer your question, no I don't think her outing you would be considered a failure to conceal, unless she was using the satement as a threat. You do however have a bigger problem than that.
Lucky you didn't get in trouble, you probably walked by a 30.06 sign going into the ER. I haven't seen a hospital yet that doesn't have one on every door.
PC §46.035. UNLAWFUL CARRYING OF HANDGUN BY LICENSE
HOLDER. (a) A license holder commits an offense if the license
holder carries a handgun on or about the license holder's person
under the authority of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code,
and intentionally fails to conceal the handgun.
(b) A license holder commits an offense if the license holder intentionally,
knowingly, or recklessly carries a handgun under the authority
of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, regardless of
whether the handgun is concealed, on or about the license holder's
person:
(4) on the premises of a hospital licensed under Chapter 241,
Health and Safety Code, or on the premises of a nursing home licensed
under Chapter 242, Health and Safety Code, unless the license
holder has written authorization of the hospital or nursing home
administration, as appropriate;
That is found on page 40 of your Handgun Laws
It is amended on page 41 requiring them to post a 30.06 sign. I'd be willing to be there was a sign though.
Be very careful with that one. You don't want the trouble that can come along with it. You said ER , so I am assuming you weren't at a regular DOc's office which can be different.
