Susan has decided on a team of doctors for her treatment and they are taking a pretty agressive approach. She is scheduled to have surgery tomorrow morning (Wed.) at 10:30am. They will be doing a complete mastectomy (sp?) on her left breast. Once that tissue has been removed, they will be able to see if they need to go further.
She will most likely need to undergo some radiation and chemo treatments, but again, we won't know the extent of that until after the surgery.
Please lift up the surgeons, nurses, Susan, and my daddy in your prayers tomorrow morning. Thank you so much!

Re: Please Pray - UPDATED (1-9-08)
UPDATE::
I just got off the phone with Susan and have some good and some bad news. She went for her MRI and met with the first of 2 surgeons that she wants to "interview".
Bad news first - - The cancer is Stage 3.
She has a variety of options - from a lumpectomy, chemo, and radiation all the way to a double mastectomy. The doctor she met with actually gave them a real sense of peace. He spent more than 2 1/2 HOURS talking to them and explaining all of the different options. I couldn't believe that!!
She sounded really good tonight and my daddy did too. That made my heart smile. They are meeting with the 2nd surgeon next Tuesday and then will spend the rest of the week making some decisions about what course of action they want to take. I will keep you guys posted on what she decides to that you can continue to pray specifically.
I am so very thankful for all of you!

Please Pray - UPDATED (1-27-08)
Jbirds and I were so thankful to be able to travel to Oklahoma to visit with my family over the Christmas holiday. While we were there, we received the devestating news that my precious stepmom has breast cancer. She had a biopsy done earlier in the month and the results were confirmed on Christmas Eve.
She will be fighting against 2 different types. One is contained within a duct. The doctor described the other as invasive. It is not contained. They will be doing an MRI after the holidays to get a better picture of what they are dealing with. She has an appointment with a surgeon the week of Jan. 12th. At this point we do not know what her treatment will consist of, we just know it is going to be quite a fight.
Thankfully, she is diligent about getting a mammogram each and every year. Nothing was detected in November of 2007, so hopefully the fact that it has not been running rampant for several years will make her battle a little easier.
The past few months have not been an easy for my daddy and his family. We lost my grandmother (his mom) just before Thanksgiving and he lost his job at the beginning of December. Emotionally he is hanging on by a thread right now... any and all prayers will be so appreciated.
My daddy's name is Johnnie Holliday and my stepmom is Susan. I would also ask you to pray for my stepsisters, Kristen and Mindi. They are struggling right now too. Please pray that God will provide complete healing for Susan as well as treatment from doctors who recognize the power of our incredible God. Please pray that my daddy will be the pillar of strength that Susan will need during this fight. Please pray that Kristen and Mindi will find the peace and understanding that only God can provide.
Thank you all so much. I will update on her progress as it comes.
