Why? Because the gun is smaller, so it would make a bigger recoil using the same ammunition.
Depending how you are currently carrying your G19, you may find this easier to conceal or not.
if you have a good IWB Holster like a Crossbreed or Comptac, and you are carrying your G19, the G26 will be able to use the same holster and the only thing that you really are gaining is a shorter grip, so it would conceal slightly better.
But I have come to realize in my time with my Springfield XD9sc, which with the short mag, is essentially the same size as the G26, that if I dress properly, I can carry with my extended (16 round) magazine, which gives me the full grip, and about the same size the as the G19.
So if you are dressing properly, and using proper holster, oh and don't forget a good gun belt, you should not need to drop to a G26 from your G19.
