I went back and looked through this thread and saw at least 19 names, including everyone that went last week, that are interested in meeting on a regular basis. Probably more if you figure in friends and family and people that haven't responded yet. I think we have a lot of potential for a good showing for the Austin area. Just wonder if wherever we go would be overwhelmed with the attendance if everyone decided to go at once.

I think attending a IDPA match would be a great time, but I'd like to set up some carpooling.

BTW, j1132s, if I haven't mentioned it before, thanks for all your efforts getting things going.

The person first to the left is holding a target displaying a very tight grouping. It just makes me slightly uncomfortable where he's holding it. Wink

It's OK, he was wearing a belt buckle, like I said, the utmost of safety was observed.

I especially liked trying out different calibers and different makes of guns. Never shot a .44 magnum before, awesome! And I got to try a .40 for the first time, and a different make of .357 from my own. I got carried away and stayed until 1:30. I ended up shooting my 10/22 at the rifle range before leaving.

Compliments to the range for the level of safety they require!

I hope we can try some different ranges... after my complaining so much about ranges closing and moving, I'm glad j1132s got us together to try this place. I want to try ARC so I can shoot my FMJ mil-surp guns.

Well, I'm cleared to go, looking forward to it.

Basically, it goes like this:
Put 3 targets up with some space between them,

Are we supposed to bring our own targets? If no, CAN we bring our own targets?

Are we sticking to handguns? Anyone bringing a rifle or shotgun?

If anyone's bringing a rifle, the only thing I've got that's legal is a Ruger 10/22, everything else I have is mil-surp and all of the ammo is FMJ.

I have a 18 1/2 inch SD shotgun, it doesn't look like they have a facility for that either.

My handguns are run-of-the-mill - Glock 19, Kimber Pro-carry 45ACP, SA GI 45ACP, S&W 686 .357 and a Taurus .38 snubby. If no one's tried any of these they're welcome to try them. Bring ammo.

There's a chance I won't be there this Saturday, depends on my daughter's Girl Scout Cookie schedule (hint) But I'll do my best.

Most Saturdays work for me and membership dues aren't a problem. If there is a solid plan for this Sat, count me in.

I recently joined this club because I wanted a decent outdoor range to shoot at and to participate in their shooting matches. They have a really well kept range and stress safe shooting; in fact, you must attend a free and mandatory orientation class (held once per month) before submitting your membership application.

There was no info at the Gun Show that I could see but I'd be very interested in joining I found online info about the club here.

Since y'all are around Austin, we should check out the Gun Show this weekend. Sometimes the Austin Rifle Club has a table there, I'll try to get some details if they are there.
