Re: Do you have insurance?!

The sticky situation with the insurance carrier could/will be intent. That is correct. With that said... if your intent was to protect your person, family, property, ect ect and you happened to commit legal justifyable hommicide. Then your home owners policy and umbrella should (never say always with insurace companies... after all thet are a controlled mafia) protect you from all liabilities upto and including shooting someone.

Now if the DA and the Court System finds you guilty of a crime or your intent was undeniably proven. You are toast.

Here is What I reccomend 1. A Home Owners policy from a quality carrier with $500,000 of liability coverage 2. A $2,000,000 umbrella policy (or a personal liability extension policy for you renters) 3. CHLPP.

Then always make sure that your intent was to stop the person from causing harm to you, your family, or someone else. Also, the Texas Castle Doctrine will have precidence here too when defending you property ect. So... Cover your bases and protect your family from a hardship that does not need to happen.

Re: Do you have insurance?!

I would not recommend that any one... rely on the combination of a Home Owners Policy and Umbrella Policy to be your sole source of representation in a shooting. Your policies in the Great State of Texas DO NOT COVER CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES or the DEFENSE THEREOF. I am not an attorney... but I am licensed in the State of Texas for Property and Casualty Insurance.
