Re: Never again....

WOW! There wasn't any ego, "cool story", or anything of that nature I was trying to get across to the forum while typing the post. I can see how it may come across that way now but if I were to tell you the story in person I don't believe you would get that impression at all even if I said the initial post verbatim. I guess I was trying to get across an understanding of how much tension there was in the matter. As for the holster, I have one of those soft inner waist holsters, made of like a neoprene or something, designed to fit inside your belt and pants. As for the information of what the cops should be told I do think its a good idea to give them as much information of yourself as you can. As for what started it, I still have no idea. Weren't drinking, no insulting clothing, no comments made at anyone's expense, etc. I know we were talking about my friend's truck and what could be wrong with it, how another friend of ours is talking to some girl he shouldn't be, as for the rest I'm not really sure. We weren't there long at all. The rest of the story follows according to the initial post. My friend could have possibly said something on the way out, but when we were trying to figure out what had exactly happened he said he had no idea of what the hell just happened. I'm still dumbfounded by the incident. I welcome all comments of how the situation could have been handled better, all the should've/could've, etc. I along with some others have learned quite a bit of different things such as carrying with a round in the chamber, informative matters, how to better deescalate the situation, etc. To those who still question the validity of the matter, I am not really concerned if you do not believe the incident and/or why you don't. I am concerned with all of the helpful information that has been posted that I and others can benefit from. So if you still persist that I am a flat out liar, bending the story, eliminating elements to remain faultless, or whatever your reasoning may be, I ask you to just disregard the post unless you can provide some other replies that could potentially help myself and others out. I'm here to learn as I am sure there are a couple of others that are here to do the same.

Re: Never again....

I don't blame the restaurant. The ladies I did speak with that worked there seemed nice enough to us at least. After all I'm sure they were the ones who told the cops what actually happened and the story we were telling the cops was actually true. But you are right, that strip center is in a pretty bad area. There were all kinds of people just walking around in the shadows etc. I don't think I would eat there after dark at least.

Re: Never again....

Yeah I guess I will start keeping one in the chamber. I live outside the city limits on some land and have a shooting range where I have practiced with many rounds getting my gun out racking one in and putting rounds on target as quickly as I am able, but I do absolutely agree with yall's reasoning; it can potentially (depending on any given scenario which we will never be in charge of constructing) be just a short club... And an extremely short club at that. Now as I think about it more and more with the feedback of this post, I was fortunate to be able to rack one in. For all I know I could have been tapped in the back of the head with a lead pipe by this fellow's associates before I even knew I needed my firearm.

I wasn't going to post the story but I'm glad I did. I thought I had figured out all I needed about how to better handle this situation and others that hopefully never come. Thank you all for your input. Even those who feel my post is fictitious for whatever their reasoning may be.

Re: Never again....

Ok here we go:

1. Granted I may have been a bit dramatic with my word usage. Tried to make it at least a good read.
2. The place is called Aunt Bee's or Aunt B's. Its somewhere on I-45 in Houston between the north 610 loop and the north beltway-8. Not too familiar with the area.
3. Granted I should have called the cops immediately! But as I have read in many other posts, when something like this occurrence is going on, your not thinking too straight.
4. I dropped the clip and pulled the round out. I put the pistol and the clip in the center console separate. I put the round in the door pocket to put it back in the clip later.
6. Maybe the police were trying to "break" us down about saying we're going to jail. I don't know. It feels kind of like the same story about the guy in Houston who had his pistol taken away from him at the movie theater for some supposed "sexual" acts in the parking lot when the cops kept telling him he was going to jail and his should forget about college because he's now a felon etc. etc. etc. etc. Maybe just some police tactics. I am not sure.
5. I did figure out that the wrecker was in fact just a helping hand in the ordeal.
6. I don't carry with a round in the chamber because there is no "safety" on my XD. Just the trigger safety and grip safety. I don't want to risk a round going off if I have to pull it out.
7. I took the class from a very knowledgeable individual. One of his good friends helped write the items pertaining to the CHL program when it started.
8. This is why this section is called NEVER AGAIN.....
9. I learned my lesson of what to do and most importantly what not to do.
10. Every line is an absolute fact. Regardless if someone believes it or not.
11. All I hope is that someone reads this and makes sure this doesn't happen to them.
12. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
13. I saw one of the cops in the matter later at a gas station (Vallero) and was talking to him about it. He remembered me and was telling me that I should have called them immediately. I had every right to pull my pistol, but don't forget to keep thinking straight after the matter is over.
14. Effectively spraying that many people with pepper spray would have been at best a shot in the dark.
15. We were just released and told to go home.

If I forgot a post with a particular subject matter to cover, i apologize.

Never again....

Never again will I be eating at Aunt "C's". I was a couple of weeks ago when a friend and I decided to go eat around 11:30PM. Denny's didn't sound so hot so we decided on Aunt C's. We walk into the place and are immediately stared down by almost every other hungry customer. My friend and I were conversing amongst ourselves when a certain inebriated individual sitting behind me felt it was an absolute necessity for her to explain to my friend and I of how inappropriate it to talk about her and her boyfriend in such a demeaning manor. NOTE: THERE WASN'T A SINGLE WORD SAID ABOUT ANYTHING PERTAINING TO ANYBODY IN THE ESTABLISHMENT. Not even realizing there were guests behind me, I turned around to see what this person may be talking about when my friend blurted out that we weren't talking about them. She stood up out of her chair and started cussing us out at a volume seemingly for the entire city to hear. Only wanting to deescalate the matter the waitresses asked us to leave as we have not even received our menus yet. My friend walked outside first as I was still trying to apologize for any inconvenience we may have been responsible for. I see outside through the windows that my friend is entangled with some older fellow on the ground in the parking lot. It happened to be another inebriated customer deciding to take matters into his own hands. I separated the two by pulling my friend from under this fellow and made it clear we are leaving. Somehow this fellow's companions deemed that we had in fact beat him up. A table of five combatant individuals are hastily gaining ground on us with fists drawn as my friend and I are saying that we are leaving and don't want trouble and that this misunderstanding is getting only more misunderstood by the second. They closed ground within about twelve feet so I pulled my XD-40 subcompact and racked a hollow in. Letting them know we will be leaving unharmed.

We leave the parking lot on the way home for a sandwich that will taste better than it ever has. We are tailed by a wrecker almost IMMEDIATELY. I, thinking that the wrecker could be the individuals that we had just encountered, made some evasive maneuvers and evaded the tailing wrecker.

We are met at a red light about 3 miles down the road by about 7 police cars from all directions. We are not so politely asked to get out of the vehicle and get on the ground. I immediately told them that there is an unloaded pistol in the center console and that I am a CHL holder. My friend and I are cuffed, searched, and placed in separate cars. TOO LONG OF A STORY SHORT: We are questioned separately. We both had the same story. Neither one of us had the opportunity to tell the full story to the any of the multiple interrogators. We were both hauled back to where it all started and sat in the car while everyone but the combatant individuals who had fled the scene where questioned.

The cops continuously asked us why we didn't call them. Why did you take off? etc etc etc. Many of the cops decided to take us to jail and forget about it except one or two. The called the District Attorney's up (or assistant DA's probably) and they wouldn't take any charges.

WE GOT LUCKY FOR SOMETHING THAT WE SHOULDN'T HAVE NEEDED LUCK FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE.

MORAL: IF YOU FEEL YOU NEED TO PULL IT OUT, LET THE AUTHORITIES KNOW. DON'T GO TO AUN'T "C's"
