I put a quick intro in the introductions thread. Thanks for info, do you know if I am applying for resident or non-resident CHL? I'll look forward to browsing your site.

I took my CHL class today and obtained my certificate of training. I understand I must now obtain fingerprints, photos, and have my 2 forms notarized.

I looked at the application today and everything I have says I must have a TX DL or ID card. I have neither. I have a valid AL DL, and my home of record is in AL. I also have my military ID card and orders bringing me (PCS) to TX. I can buy firearms in TX with my AL DL, ID card, and a copy of my orders; so do those things make me a resident for CHL purposes?

Can anybody tell me if I should be applying for a resident or non-resident permit? My instructor said its best to have the address on your CHL match your DL, so I will be using my AL address and having my parents send me my CHL when it gets here.

Can anybody give me any insight on how to properly fill out this application?
