You make the common mistake of thinking Republican = Pro Gun.

I suggest voting for or against the incumbents based on their votes in committee and on the floor, not the letter after their name on the ballot, and definitely not their sweet nothings. It's a little more work but the results just may be worth it.
But that is the problem. RINOs will vote "conservative" when legislation hits the floor. What they are expert at is killing bills quietly in committees where there are no recorded votes. A RINO can even vote for a bill in committee and make darn sure it stays in calendars where none of us will ever know exactly how it died.

HB560 is a prime example. No one can point to who killed that bill. There was no committee action on the bill after public hearing. Straus is an easy (and appropriate) target to blame, but it's not just him. Getting rid of "soft" supporters and closet antis/appeasers while not attacking our friends is virtually impossible unless you are privy to what's being said and done behind closed doors.

I'm predicting death in the Calendars Committee, but I am no where near the know, let alone in it.
I called this a couple of weeks ago. Charles called it before the session even started.

There isn't a lot of incentive for lawmakers to pass permit-less carry at this time.

The one good thing that has come out of 1911 making it far enough to get some media attention has forced a few "closet antis" to make public statements. Many of their public statements (like the police chief above) have been showing support for our current LTC system. What they are saying (in essence) is; "we have a means for responsible citizens to carry, and it's working great. We don't want to change that system because it works so well." These statements can be used against them when they come out against the HB560 of next session. I know I'm archiving some of these statements to use later.

The owner is active in testifying/lobbying for gun bills, but I don't know if the above is just speculation or based on insider info.

Charles told us pretty quickly when HB560 died, so presumably we would similarly be told if HB1911 has died.

Should we be calling the Calendars Committee and urging them to schedule HB1911 for a floor vote?

If House leadership has decided to block HB1911, won't that just result in Stickland and other Republicans trying to amend other gun bills on the floor to include permitless carry?
I would be (pleasantly) surprised if HB1911 gets a floor vote.

Even if 1911 passes, it will not overcome my disgust over how HB560 was (not) received.

This is all going to be idiotically complicated. You won't find 1 business owner in 100,000 that will have a correct understanding of everything.
It's already borderline idiotically complicated, but yeah, this would push it over the top. I'd like to see some grand bargain where we eliminate 30.06/30.07 in exchange for a gunbuster sign not having the force of law on those with an LTC.

Having said that, I'm at the point where I desperately hope constitutional carry passes this session because it seems we've again sacrificed some mighty good legislation (i.e. HB560) to get it done, just like we did in 2015 to get open carry. If constitutional carry fails... oh man, I don't want to think about it.
May as well start thinking about it.

If I were a betting man, I would bet on CSHB1911 dying in calendars. I think (at best) we will see church security teams and a reduction in LTC fees. This session will go down as one of the least productive in decades as it relates to expansion of 2a rights.
