It will take a week or two before you see that info.kbriggs wrote:So now when I go back to that same status page and login again, there is no Status line on that page anymore. What happened there? I see other people in this thread mention green check marks next to the various status points. Where exactly is this located?

Go here: https://www.dps.texas.gov/rsd/contact/default.aspx
Select "handgun licensing" & make the next selection. A form will open where you can send them an "email". Scroll down near the bottom and you will find the telephone number.

Re: "Waiting Room"
I don't have details, but Charles has told us before that our fingerprints are sent to the FBI as part of the background check. That alone tells us that there is more to it than a simple NICS check.

Re: "Waiting Room"
There is a vast difference between a NICS check and the LTC background check.Kevo wrote:That's what I'm sayin.. this is nutsOkieBrian wrote:Just nuts. How can a NICS take Academy 5-10 minutes but the gubment six weeks???JuMan254 wrote:My all in was the May 14th

Ive been stuck on Finger print and background since June 2nd.....
When I called they told me they had an additional 60 days past the 6 weeks to for background check...
bull Meter was officially full... going to email someone congressman, senator, chuck norris or whatever it takes
Similarly, there is a vast difference between the LTC background check and a real background check (officially called a "background investigation") for a security clearance. The latter WILL take six to twelve months and scare the ever loving snot our of all your friends.

It's about danged time! Real status has only been gone for what 2 years now?
When all the steps turn green, it should say, "Mailed"" at the bottom. THAT'S when it's time to start stalking the mailman.

Re: "Waiting Room"
You do realize that you will still have to fill out the paperwork, right? They just don't have to call NICS.meyerch5 wrote:I am WAITING for the plastic for the opposite reason! 90 days seems an inevitability at this point.

Re: "Waiting Room"
Running a NICS check to purchase a firearm is a far cry from any kind of "background check".SplittinHairs wrote:What "background check" do they run? Cause it takes about 30 seconds to get cleared for a gun purchase.
There are several different levels of a true "background check", depending on what it's for.
Back when I enlisted in the Air Force, near the end of basic training, they decided what my career field was going to be. Since I would be working in base telecommunications centers, I needed a Top Secret / Background Investigation (TS/BI). It took nearly six months to run that "background check". Men in black suits interviewed (and scared the heck out of almost everyone who I'd ever known... many of which I had not listed on the forms I filled out. They found out who they were, on their own. My clearance was approved just in time to start my last block of training, which included classified information. Some of my classmates had to wait and attend that last block at a later time because their background check wasn't complete.
Several years later, I got an assignment where part of my duties would require me to work around intelligence data. Now I needed a TS/SBI (Top Secret / Special Background Investigation). Even though I already had the TS/BI, which had been updated every 5 years, it took another 6 months to complete the even deeper background check.
Again, comparing a NICS check with the LTC background check is like comparing apples to mashed potatoes.

Re: "Waiting Room"
It means you have something in progress. In this case, you now have an address change in progress. In a few days, it will go back to the other screen.MöbiusOne wrote:Prologue: 1/11 all in, 4/2 status change.
So on Saturday, I received the heralded UPDATED STATUS on the website (with options to change address, report it stolen, etc.). Since I had moved in the interim period of time (sorry my life can't be put on hold while DPS takes its sweet time), I submitted a change of address form on the website and paid the fee. I got an email receipt for that, and a confirmation that "my checklist contains no required supporting document items." Which is good...I think (that's ambiguous wording).
So after two days where the website is unavailable (48 hours after that address update), my page has gone BACK to the original status (no options for address, etc.).
Has anyone else seen this phenomenon? WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

Re: "Waiting Room"
When I renewed my CHL in March of last year, you could log into that same link and get a better picture of your status, something like this:
Later in the year (August or September), they put a stop to that. Now, all you can do is look for the change of address & report a lost card links to guess it's been mailed.

Re: "Waiting Room" CHL date
There are only two dates on a CHL. Your DOB and the date the license expires. They're both the same, except for the year.Raptorii wrote:What is the date on your Texas CHL relative to the date the online status changed?

Re: My irritatigly long, mailbox checking, windows refreshin
When you log in as a returning user, do you see a link to change your address or report a lost license? If you do, it's in the mail.Charlies.Contingency wrote:Hello All, I finally took the time to get my prints done, and I mailed off all of my paperwork one september 29th 2014, and I am still waiting for some sort update on the website. 28 days now and nothing new, and I am a terribly impatient individual. I am current law enforcement, and I reside out of Bexar County. That being said, I have a squeky clean record, and I am not worried about any background issues. I am supprised that it is taking so long for their ackowledgement that they recieved my papers. Nothing in the mail back, no calls, and no emails.
Any comments or personal suggestions? (And yes, I used snail mail, but I live rurally without internet. Posting by phone.)

That seems to be the general consensus. Congratulations!TXWILDMAN73 wrote:Submitted application about 3 weeks ago along with fingerprints.
Submitted CHL-100 last Sunday morning.
This morning I have not seen any status updates, but it is showing the "Change Information": Address, report lost or stolen card, etc. Does this mean it might already be on the way?

Not really. It just feels that way when you're the one waiting.alexguy101 wrote:Hi all!

Oct 15 - Application filled out, paid, submitted online.
Oct 16 - CHL class taken.
Oct 18 - Document Mailed to DPS.
Its currently Oct 25, an entire week after mailing to DPS, and they still haven't said whether or not its been recieved...
License Status: Application processed online. Concealed Handgun Licensing is waiting on the receipt of required materials. Once the application and materials have been received by Concealed Handgun Licensing and processing has begun, a more detailed status will appear on this page.
It seems as tho the majority of people had their statuses change a lot sooner than this (say 2-3 days).
I guess should i just relax and wait a bit....
When I mailed mine in the end of May, it took 3 weeks after the post office said they got it before it showed up on line. I still had plastic in hand 40 days after they got the package.

Re: "Waiting Room"
In my case, it was two days. It went "Pending" on 6/30, then "Mailed" on 7/2. I received plastic on 7/6.TheJayMan wrote:Hey Guys,
My status, just today, has changed to:
Background Check : Completed
Concealed Handgun License : Manufacturing Pending
As a frame of reference DPS had received my completed application on 5/17/10.
Anyone know how long it takes them to "manufacture" and mail it?
