Re: Don't let your 4 year old play with your gun

Well... at least the father won't do that again...
You have to understand that some other countries and societies don't look at guns with the respect that most US citizens do. I have traveled all over the world and had many a gun barrel pointed at me or my companions by law enforcement (usually armed with an AK varient in the countries I have traveled to) who don't care where the muzzle of the gun is pointed. I also noticed that they kept their fingers on the trigger most of the time. When you are on a train and the 3 military officers behind you have AK's and are waving them around at the passengers while gesturing to their friends... Let me tell you, that is an eye opening experience. For some peoples of the world this is the norm. Even the parents on the train didn't seem to care when the gun pointed toward their children. If that happened in the US, there would be outrage and someone would be looking for another line of work, and/or going to jail. I've even seen small (obvious 4-6yr olds) carrying guns in the streets of third-world countries. Weapons are a way of life in these places, I knew that going into my travels. However, I had no idea that weapon safety was unheard of.
Tragic as this video is, there are STUPID people in all walks of life, and this guy was one of them!
Here in the US, we don't usually discharge a firearm in the air to celebrate. This is with good reason. Some cultures don't recognize that as unsafe, so why would it be unsafe to hand a gun to a 4 year old! :???:
We have learned firearm etiquette from our fathers and forefathers since the founding of our country. This is why you usually don't see anything like this here in the US. I'm not saying that it doesn't happen here, but when it does the people involved are dealt with accordingly. :tiphat:
