If you can stay legal, and resist doing crazy things with your peers,
you will be on the launching pad to get your plastic (your CHL) as
soon as you hit 21.

Please post your hometown, or at least your area, on your personal
profile so that other forum members in your neck of the woods have
a chance to ask you to the range, or point out good gun stores nearby.

SIA
1) LOL, my parents are almost to the point where they want to come and bail me out of jail (Yes, Im that boring)
2) I live in McKinney, and am eagerly awaiting august 12th opening of the Cheaper Than Dirt on 380 & 75 (yes, I joined the facebook group)
You can get a CHL in the next few months.

:txflag: Join the Texas National Guard, go to Basic Training and AIT. Come home and serve one weekend and month and two weeks of Annual Training. There is the chance you may be called to active duty (then you can open carry). You can even have some of you college paid by the state.

Members of the Active Armed Forces, Reserves, and National Guard can get a CHL at 18. I believe that the cost of the CHL is waived.
(g) Notwithstanding Subsection (a)(2), a person who is at least 18
years of age but not yet 21 years of age is eligible for a license to carry
a concealed handgun if the person:
(1) is a member or veteran of the United States armed forces, including
a member or veteran of the reserves or national guard;
(2) was discharged under honorable conditions, if discharged
from the United States armed forces, reserves, or national guard; and
(3) meets the other eligibility requirements of Subsection (a) except
for the minimum age required by federal law to purchase a handgun.
