Moreover, the Florida statute provides an additional layer of protection to a defendant claiming self-defense: A judge must decide whether the defendant is "immune from prosecution," that is, if the judge believes his actions fall under the law of self-defense.

So the following mixed outcome is certainly possible: The special prosecutor indicts; the judge does or doesn't grant immunity; if he doesn't, the jury acquits.

Many people would be unhappy with such a mixed outcome, but it is not the job of the law to make people happy.

Last night in the local news I saw a story about an elderly woman in her 70s whose phone number was disseminated by Justin Bieber as a prank in which he tweeted to his fans to call him—KNOWING that this was a false number, and never stopping to think that his millions of fans would make life intolerable for some private citizen. Her phone has become unusable, and her voicemail box is overrun with giggly teenybopper voices begging Bieber to call them back. When she complained to the phone company, the only suggestion they could offer her was that she could change her number.......the number she has had since the 1960s. She said no way because that would mean that she would have to notify anybody who has been in contact with her for over 40 years to notify them of the change, and the onus should not be on her, the innocent victim of an expensive prank to make it right........and she is looking at suing Bieber. I say good for her.

You never even here an "Oops! I'm sorry" out of the mental lightweights who pull this kind of crap. They are far too self-centered to understand, let alone care about the consequences of their privileged actions on regular people. The twits who think that the anonymity of Twitter will protect them from criminal behavior need to be taught an expensive and painful lesson. The baboon who gave out the incorrect Zimmerman address should have to cool his heels in a jail cell for a while for making terroristic threats against an innocent party. These people know no decency, and it is time to take out the trash.

SANFORD — Sanford city commissioners have voted "no confidence" in police Chief Bill Lee Jr., who has been publicly lambasted for his department's handling of the fatal shooting of Miami teenager Trayvon Martin.

Commissioner Mark McCarty made the motion to fire the chief, who has been on the job just 10 months. Mayor Jeff Triplett and Commissioner Velma Williams voted with the majority.

Did you really link to MOTHERJONES? Nothing personal, but I don't trust ANYTHING from that website, considering how much they HATE our ability under the law to defend ourselves. Their intense leftist bias makes everything they print suspect to me, sorry. They are the sort of folks that would like us to be the way the Brits are: defenseless.

All details aren't known, but it appears "Skittles guy" shouldn't have put Armed guy/CHL neighborhood watch captain on ground and beat on him to make his nose and back of his head bleed. And Neighborhood watch guy learned that yelling help real loudly over and over.... doesn't bring any help sometimes.

At this point, it's a "he said" deal, but with some physical evidence to corroborate neighborhood watch guy's story.
