Bear67 wrote:Steve built me two holsters about a month ago and I can not express how pleased I am with the fit and the quality. I carried a SP101 OWB today and it fits and is comfortable. I wore jeans and an untucked long tailed shirt and was around people and equipment all day.

For the price and the free shipping you can not beat the deal. I just have to buy another gun in order to buy another holster.
Great work, thanks

tubular031 wrote:These holsters are awesome. I got one for my xdsc a few months ago and this is the only holster I use now and I use it all day every day! Bigpa is a good guy. I met up with him not long ago so he could make one for my pf9 since he did not have a mold. He even delivered it to me when it was done! Awesome guy to work with. These holsters are way better than the others out there and costs less too! You know you want one, so just buy one!

Thank you very the wonderful comments. Stay safe my friend...

After almost a year with my G36 in a TX Tucker, the 'mouth' is still open. One important observation: I do leave my Glock in it at night to keep the leather form/shape crisp. I have probably drawn and re-holstered a few hundred times (practicing what I hope I never have to do), and it has taken some licks in that process. In addition, I'm not a small guy and do perspire a bit (especially in this heat). I've gone to the length of taking a hair dryer (low heat) to the holster a couple of times due to excessive perspiration--and it kept its shape (had to dry the horsehide once on my Crossbreed when I got absolutely soaked in a downpour, and then had to reshape and cool the Kydex--I did not know that the hairdryer would soften it like it did, and that was challenging).

Does it keep the same or similar shape of a Kydex (thinking of one-handed re-holstering)? No--it does develop some supple give (similar to what my DeSantis Cozy Partner did). It's not rigid like Kydex and doesn't have reinforcement at the lip of the hoslter 'mouth.' In addition, over time the holster has formed a bit more to my shape. Has it 'closed' at the mouth? No, especially given that I've taken steps to make sure that it remains formed to my G36 (storing my weapon in it at night--my Sig P239 is in the nightstand so holstering my Glock at night makes sense to me).

My only caution would related to your choice of pants and belt. When I wear dress pants (on Sundays), which are a little more fitted (i.e., tighter in the waist) and a dress belt (which is a little more narrow) it does tend to close the mouth of the holster and make a one-handed re-holster pretty much impossible. Formerly, with my Crossbreed, the same pants and belt simply slipped over the mouth of the Kydex, creating the same problem (it required both hands to re-holster).

Hope that this helps...

Pug-- thank you for that wonderful review. Reviews are a true help. My goal is to make a functional yet decent looking holster that is affordable.

Re: WTS:Custom Leather Holsters

Take a look at the front and back of the Texas Tucker pics above. I use t-nuts and screws to mount the tuckable tabs onto the holster. You can loosen the screws rotate the tuckable tabs backwards or forwards. This gives a slight adjustment in the cant.

Re: WTS:Custom Leather Holsters

I do put a cant on the holster itself. The belt clips are also adjustable to give more or less cant.

There is no re-enforcement on the mouth of the holster. They do close up some, but they don't collapse. I put 3 coats of finish on them which helps to keep them stiff. You might talk to PUG here on the forum. He wears one regularly with a glock 36. I can draw and re-holster with mine. I carry an LC9.
