Do you think that someone gave her this information or do you think she just made it up? If anyone watches the informational channels on TV they should know that a “heat seeking bullet” does not exist. I don’t even remember seeing this in a movie, and Hollywood is notorious for taking liberties with physics and the properties of weapons.

Do you think she realizes how ignorant she appears to anyone that has ever served in the military and/or knows anything at all about firearms? Do you think she even cares?

Ignorance is not knowing about something. Stupid is not being aware you don’t know.

I just realized, we need a stupid smiley on here to use for politicians.

I think ignorance is a big part of it, but it doesn't really matter and the anti's know it: they don't care whether what they say is true or not and they don't care what people who know about firearms think --their entire position is based on an appeal to ignorance, and their audience is composed of those who are emotionally opposed to gun ownership and seek claims that support their beliefs (truth is not a factor), and those who are ignorant about firearms and can be influenced by those who makes claims to having some kind of authority on the subject, like congresswomen and the Brady Bunch. In other words, they only appear foolish to those who are informed, and those who are informed are generally part of their opposition anyway, so it doesn't matter.

Hollow Points, the new "cop killer" bullets?

http://www.guns.com/the-myth-of-the-cop ... ullet.html

So what are the “cop killer” bullets now? According to the Brady Campaign, it is any hollowpoint bullet on the market.

Not quite sure what to make of this article since the following statement is apparently false:

On a side note, Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy’s website (which you can see for yourself here) erroneously describes hollowpoints, quoting her saying “these bullets explode on impact and can penetrate most bullet-proof vests” and “You can’t even hunt with them, the animal would be ripped to pieces after one shot.” Neither of these statements is accurate.

McCarthy's website doesn't mention hollow points, but it is still a pretty wacky statement, and I've no idea what it's really talking about, since explosive rounds are already illegal:

McCarthy's first amendment would have banned all armor-piercing ammunition or "cop-killer" bullets. Many of these bullets explode on impact and can penetrate most bullet-proof vests.

"These bullets have no practical purpose whatsoever," said McCarthy. "You can't even hunt with them, the animal would be ripped to pieces after one shot."
