This is a very interesting article about how the Freedom Group has acquired Bushmaster, Remington and a number of other gun manufacturers in the US such as DPMS, Marlin, H&R, and Barnes Bullet, among others.

It sounds like this may be a move by pro-gun patriots to keep these companies functioning. But I wonder if the price was right from some huge anti-gun investor if the group could sell out for the money and these manufacturers be shut down in one move?
