Now ya did it!arod757 wrote: Found this thread, so now I know ... send it back to Kimber. I told her not to buy that thing, but she wouldn't listen. She wanted more of a "Girlie gun" as opposed to my Glock or my wife's XD.

Re: Spitting Kimber
Sorry, don't own one and never will. It is the folks who own them and love them have convinced me that they aren't worth trusting. sumpin about triggers I guess. I just pull the trigger on my old $300 Ruger, fire and lead come out the other end, and make holes where I was aimin' I cant understand what this trigger stuff is all about, and the whole 1911 mystique. I did fire a 1911 a couple times while in the Army. I was convinced that it was the worst piece of armament the Army had those who had been around longer than I had no respect for them either. Most would have preferred a S&W revolver. Some people just enjoy things that don't work well, because they enjoy fixin' them up I guess.anygunanywhere wrote:All of you'se guys with them horrible Kimbers can just box them up and send them freight collect to moi. Just let me know and I will supply my FFLer so that it is all legal like. I will even drive across Texas to do a FTF to take them turrible Kimber pistolas off yer hands.

Maybe some day someone will explain why these things are worth so much money in words I can understand.

Re: Spitting Kimber
Funny thing about Kimbers is that people write and tell about how they had to break it in, and brag about how they only get 1 ftf per 200 rounds. and how happy they are that it performs most of the time now that they bought some expensive 3rd party mags. Folks who own other high quality guns can't understand why anyone would want to need to experiment with different ammo and mags to get their gun to operate reliably. They can't understand why folks would spend so much on a jamomatic that can't be trusted to be a primary carry weapon. A Kimber working perfectly right out of the box actually seems to be a rarity according the range reports I've seen on this forum.CompVest wrote:My Kimber was great out of the box. It just that people are more apt to complain then praise!
Please understand thatI've never fired a Kimber, so maybe I'm missing something I don't understand. But I've noticed Kimber shooters at the range don't seem to shoot any better than other regular visitors to the range. The most accurate shooters always seem to be using some sort of 9mm or .40 cal.

Re: Spitting Kimber
If you ever figure it out please try to explain it to me. I think it might have aomething to do with sneakers. Some folks just have to have a $250 pair of sneakers, and others find that their $60 are just perfect for them. Its about brand name, fashion, and being "in" vs having something that does the job.RECIT wrote:The bottom line to me...why would a person spend so much coin on a weapon that needs adjustment or modification outta the box when there are sooooo many other weapons that function fine without incident? I do not own a 1911, but I have the bug. All this talk about $1000.00 weapons that need work before they are even broken has got me a little hesitant to plunk my money down. Even if it is minor things like another magazine or a main spring. Those are all thing that you paid an extremely high price tag for and apparently they are not up to par. That is just un-nerving to me. Especially when some one is considering it for a carry weapon. I want one bad, but I wouldn't spend ten dollars on something if it can not perform its job outta the box. Its just an opinion, but its mine.
I have never had a pair of sneakers that cost ove $50.00 but if they ever decide to make them with flubber in them, I would be tempted.
