He told me that they had ex-LEO's as TA's for the gunfight scenes but they got overruled a lot also for "dramatic effect" or "camera positioning".

Are people really that naive?
While TV and the Movies take huge liberties. I watch them to be entertained. I hate reality TV, but I'll watch Shoot 'em up and Die hard all night long because they are fun. I know a single shot from a 9mm won't cause a car to explode with a huge firebal.l. Its fun
