The old version is more compatible with old software and other venders. I try to port to XLS when I am not sure what software people are using. I use LibreOffice though, not MS Office and my spreadsheets are usually pretty simple.Rafe wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 12:21 pm What do we think we're up to, 93?
At first I thought HPD would be releasing statistics only once per quarter, but it looks like it's every month...only it takes 5 or 6 weeks to update the Excel spreadsheet. Latest version, January through April, is here: https://www.houstontx.gov/police/cs/xls ... -FINAL.xls. One also wonders why they're using an old version of Excel...at least, they're using the old .XLS format which was superseded in 2007 with the release that year MS Office's adaptation of the Open XML standard. Oh well; still works.

Re: TX:The mean streets of Houston
Probably didn't want to do the paperwork. Some people don't like the government into their business.philip964 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 11:22 pm https://www.click2houston.com/news/loca ... wood-home/
Friendswood woman came home from work and was robbed at gunpoint as she went to the mail box.
She had earlier gone to the bank and withdrew $9,000 in cash from the bank. So it appears she had been “jugged”.
Why $9000 and not $10,500?
All smells fishy to me.

Re: TX:The mean streets of Houston
He is tallying the Metro Houston area, a Population according to Google as 6,997,384. A murder a day is 365 murders. A murder rate of 5.216 per 100,000 doesn't sound particularly high. Probably a bit higher for Houston proper, but lower than places like Galveston Beaumont/Port Arthur.03Lightningrocks wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 12:00 pmJimney Crickets! They may just hit one a day. I looked at that list Charles post the other day and Dallas was right up there with Houston. It makes me wonder if Dallas would be that high.philip964 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 10:50 am https://www.click2houston.com/news/loca ... olice-say/
Two dead two wounded on a shooting on the South side. No. 17 and No. 18.

Re: TX:The mean streets of Houston
Y'all can blame Acevedo all you want, but someone put him there and Acevedo hasn't changed his stripes. He is the same incompetent leftist as he has been for years before he was hired.
Acevedo didn't force the Mayor and city council to hire him. He didn't elect the judges that run trials, He didn't elect the DA. Acevedo is doing exactly what he got hired for. In a democracy, we get the government we ask for. Elections have consequences.

Re: TX:The mean streets of Houston
I think they get used to it. I try to avoid going into areas where the convenience stores have metal bars over the windows and the clerks are hiding behind protective glass shields. The thing I hate most about Houston though is the money grabbers. They have become very anti automobile. They charge tolls to drive, and charge to park. I used to like going to watch the Astros, but they charge more to park than the costs of the ticket.03Lightningrocks wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2019 11:20 pm Good Night Nurse! Why do any of you Houston folks want to live there? The amount of crime posts by phillip964 is just a part of the crime there. Houston is definitely one tough city!

Re: TX:The mean streets of Houston
Can you get a spark from lead and copper? Maybe from an .556 round with a penetrator? I suspect that someone was attempting to use fireworks as a weapon. As a kid, we used to shoot at rats against all kinds of things. We never saw sparks like they showed in the movies. It was kinda disappointing.

How does a fired bullet set fire to fireworks? Were they shooting tracers?
