Do you have a picture of the new style bolt? I'd like to compare it to mine...AJ80 wrote:I've fired thousands and thousands of rounds through mine and that's never happened to me.
But someone else at the range has one and he had an extractor problem, basically fell apart on him.
Apparently they did a redesign on the bolt between the time that he bought his and the time I bought mine.
He sent his in and now his has a bolt that looks just like mine.
If you have the previous version of the bolt with the old style extractor, S&W should replace the bolt for you and any other out-dated parts as well..

Re: Had a round go off behind another round with an open cha
Ok, I did a little research online and found some other people with extractor problems on this particular rifle. Apparently the extractor is not aligned properly. So i "did the fix".... Now it FTE's every other round. BUT...... If i pull the mag out it will eject every time. The ejector is working, but not with the introduction of the next cartridge into the breach. I am waiting for an email response from S&W in Texas. I'll probably call tomorrow and get this thing figured out.

Had a round go off behind another round with an open chamber
Ok so i was out yesterday evening playing around with my S&W M&P 15-22. I was sighting in a new 4x20 red star scope i put on it. I had just finished getting the sights dialed in when i had about 5 shots left in the mag. I started to rapid fire them and thats when it happened. A fired round failed to eject and the next cartridge went off behind the empty shell. It was like a cannon going off in my ear. Now, it wont eject the fired rounds from the gun. Should i take this thing in to a smith (maybe a burred barrel at the chamber now) or just call smith & Wesson. It is only about 7 months old.... bought it new at academy in corpus christi, tx.
here are two pics of the "chambered" round previously fired.....
