Seems like he succeeded in saving a boy's life, which to me ranks a bit higher than "nothing". For a number of reasons (most or all of which have been debated here in the various "should I get involved" threads) I wouldn't necessarily advocate Mark Allen's course of action (and the article went on to say, "The incident also raised concerns about the implications of well-meaning citizens becoming involved in police activities."), but you can't seriously be saying that he didn't succeed in anything.

Locked in a box that's locked in the trunk and bolted to its side? The problem is that unless you're in an old-school caddy there won't be enough room in the back seat. The only place left other than the trunk that might have space for it is the engine compartment, depending on how tight things are packed. Even if there's room, it's not very practical considering where most hood releases are located. You'd certainly have the element of surprise, though. :mrgreen:
