The chancellor reaches pretty far if he assumes to speak for faculty at large. As a faculty member of a state university, I say phooey to him as I have patiently awaited the time when our legislators would quit sitting on their hands on this matter so that I can defend myself equally well at home, the community, and at work if ever pressed to do so. As to those phantom faculty members potentially moving in from other states, I say our university systems have enough issues without importing more folks with liber[al]ated and "free-thinking" minds who refuse to pass students who disagree with their narrow ideology. This is Texas. We should strive to raise self-reliant and responsible adults, not sheep. Stay in Bloomberg-ville and thank you very much.
