GOA is very vocal and more militant than the NRA. Politically, I don't think that it is very effective. One, it is much smaller than the NRA and politicians will always ask how many members that they they have. If it is less than 1 million the organization may well get the short shrift. Two, it is so militant that it comes across as a bit nutty, especially to folks who consider the NRA as extreme.Crowfoot wrote:+1 on the NRA
Will go TSRA as well.
What about Gun Owners of America or others? I'm on the GOA and paper mailig lists but honestly do not know who is who in this foeld.
The NRA comes across as professional... maybe "slick" in the political image, maybe too big.
The are far across the table from libs as are the rest I 'spect so I'm in!
Any other suggestions? Not that I have money to throw around (Outta work since April and trying much harder and more flexible in my search now)
I expect opinions to vary, but again, any support for any pro-2nd Amendment is a step in the right direction.
Also consider the Second Amendment Foundation. They have been involved in some of the most important court cases, and, in Heller for example, they filed ahead of the NRA. Then the NRA joined in that lawsuit. SAF seems to specialize more in court cases, but they have increased their public visibility in the last few years.
I am a Benefactor Life Member of the NRA, a Life Member of TSRA, and a supporter of SAF, just so that people will know that I put my money where my mouth is.
