Just off the top of my head, one thing is that a resident Texas CHL will allow you to have your gun with you in gun free school zones, not in the building but parking lot is fine. A non-resident license won't. I'd imagine there are also other differences besides the NICSsmtimelevi wrote:I am a Texas Resident. Is the Texas CHL worth anymore than the AZ CCW? For exemption on the NICS yes but on every other part AZ CCW wins. Maybe I'm just annoyed by the whole permission slip attitude and the AZ CCW looks easier. Not that I make much contact with LE, would I catch grief from them having the AZ permit vs the Texas CHL even though it's perfectly legal?
Check out the recent thread concerning "The Utah Trouble" to see what a lot of people think. The big concern I would have is the very real possibility that Texas may stop honoring non-resident licenses held by Texas residents. Several other states have already done that with their residents. That is one reason that when I moved back here from Indiana, even though my Hoosier license is valid and will remain so for life, I went on and went to the trouble to get my, (IMO too expensive), Texas CHL.
