So imagine you are an octogenarian who had to go to a lot of trouble to get out and vote and then had to do it provisionally. This now requires a trip to the court house within the week to again prove you are who you are, and likely using the same identification items that were refused at the polling place. They aren't going to make the trip and the vote doesn't count. Just what the diabolical guys in Austin had in mind. If the legislative goal was to prevent illegal aliens from voting, it seems they missed the intended mark and are making it hard or impossible for citizens to exercise their right. Not everyone is 30 years old with 2 forms of photo ID.philip964 wrote:I was at the right location and had two photo id's. Had to vote provisionally. I just love the government.

Re: ID for voting
....because doing business with any of those stores is a commercial exercise of freedom of trade. Voting is a constitutionally guaranteed right. If I don't want to do business with Walmart, I can go to, uh, uh, well, I can do business with someone, somewhere.

Re: ID for voting
You haven't needed a registration card since the poll tax was repealed in the 60's. It's been pretty useless and I have never attempted to use it to vote. Never once. Now it will likely go away. It serves no purpose. Now the new foolishness is that you could cast a provisional ballot without photo ID but you then had to go to the courthouse within 7 days to prove you are who you are. That might be good in Brownwood but not so much in Dallas or Houston. Who has a half day to devote? It's my understanding that there have been a total of 4 cases brought to trial during the past 10 years of someone who committed voter fraud. With all the fuss it seems that the same illegal voters who never voted before have again surprised everyone by not voting again. Even Jim Wright had trouble because the 90 year old guy allowed his drivers license to expire. How dare him! No current ID. Couldn't they take an expired license? Old Jim hasn't changed since it expired and the address on the license isn't an issue. They ask if you have moved. They don't care about what's on the license ID--just that the photo somewhat resembles the holder. Just wait until next November. This is just going to be great fun.So, if you had your TDL you didn't need a registration card?
