Indeed, much better.
Multiple shots is not only a good thing, its encouraged. You don't want to fall prey to the "two shots, evaluate, fire more if necessary" crowd. That evaluation time could be all thats needed for the BG to fire back. Fire until it is no longer necessary. This should be obvious even while looking through the sights. ;-)

WheySmart, I think your age is getting the best of you. At 14 you have an idealistic view about how the world works. I would suggest you try to learn as much as possible from the older folks here who have dealt with situations like this. Their advice can be of tremendous help later down the line. The hardest thing for men, young and old alike, is for them to put aside their pride and accept that they must still be willing to learn. Your energy is good, and I'm glad to see someone from the younger generation taking an interest in the topics discussed here. But, be careful in your decisions. Hot-headedness can lead you into a very bad legal situation if such events ever came about.

BTW, welcome to the forums!

If someone is in my house, I'm already in a dangerous situation. And I'm going to end it as soon as I can. If that means that they high-tail it out, then so be it. But I will not sit in the corner and be the victim to someone who believes they can come into my home uninvited.

(sorry Stevie, couldn't help it)

I certainly do not. While I'm cowering in the bathtub with my thumb in my mouth crying and hoping that they leave, they are searching the other rooms and may find my wife or children. Then what?
HECK NO! If someone breaks into my house, they will be found and when they are, they will have a barrel pointed at their chest.

BTW, those links to the "unbreakable glass" didn't show anybody using a knife. Since its a film, and I being the common criminal always have my pocket knife, then its a simple "smash-n-cut-n-grab" job now. No real help there.

I do not quite understand what you are talking about, however in your own home there is no duty to retreat. If somebody is in your home without your permission, you have the complete and total right to defend yourself.
I don't think thats entirely true. Since our congressmen will be voting on our version of the "Castle Doctrine" in the next legislative session, I don't think our current law affords us the ability to blow somebody away simply for being in our house. The "Castle Doctrine" is meant to instate that a man's house is his castle, and it will make it legally binding that anyone found there that was not invited in, will, in the eyes of the law, be presumed to intend to cause harm. Thus allowing the homeowner to handle the situation as they see fit. No more legal worry about whether the guy is just a drunk who crawled into the wrong house, not meaning any harm.
This really does support the old trespassing sign: "If you are found here tonight, you will be found here tomorrow." ;-)

Is it legal to use a gun against a dog? I know OC is fine, but are we allowed to use a gun in public to kill an attacking dog? I know I'd rather live and have a dead dog in front of me than to suffer whatever he had in mind, but is it legal?

If she was going to be a student, didn't you have her info? Did she get charged for it?

I did draw my weapon one night when I was up late at home. I was in the office crouched down working on something when I heard a loud CRASH! You know that split second when your mind is going through the possible sources for a noise in hopes of mentally identifying it? Well, mine tried, for a nanosecond. Then the utter horror fell on me as I realized that I had no idea what that could have been. So, almost instinctively (which is odd because I don't do it much), I whipped around still crouched while at the same time drawing my weapon from the 5:30 IWB and sat there. It all happened in "slow-time" and was almost as smooth as glass.

There I was, in the perfect crouched position. You know, the one where your sitting on your foot that is tucked under to give you height to prop your strong arm and gun on the other knee that is bent in front. How I got there, I don't know. But what I do know is that the next few seconds felt like an eternity as I was still trying to figure out what that noise could have been, all the while, my gun was firmly pointed at the opening to the office with a clear view of the living room. After what I guess was a minute of waiting, I decided to get up and investigate. Most of the lights in the house were on so I tried not to throw a shadow into the possible view of anybody standing in my living room. I then did a corner clear of my office door, and swung across from left to right at the opening to the living room. Nobody. I slowly crept around the corner to the small area at the front door and peeked there. Nothing. No broken glass. No open door. No evidence of forced entry. I was unbelievably relieved and felt like collapsing from all of the strain my muscles had just suffered. My heart didn't calm down for almost half an hour. I never did get proof of what the noise was. I now assume that it was one of my pet rats falling off of a high shelf in his cage. They make a lot of noise when that happens but I had never heard it that loud before.

I think its good to have a scare like that. Nothing bad happens but you see exactly how you would respond. It has given me more confidence in my ability to handle a bad situation if it ever happens, which I pray it never does.

 You called the police to report it, right? If he did, they would be looking for a road raged gun toting nut out for blood. In short, you.

I was told in my class that if I EVER showed my weapon to anybody in a manner to alarm, I should always call the cops once the situation allows it. Always get your story told first.

EDIT: Sorry! I must have bee typing very slowly. My bad.
