Re: Time Warner

Really? Well I don't recall my "obsolete technology" ever going out or fuzzing even once during the winter blast we just had. I didn't have to go out and knock ice off of my cable to get a picture either.
I'm not insulting your choice. Please don't insult mine. They both have their flaws and benefits. I like mine because I get a great picture and internet over the same line for 24.99 a month. If I wanted internet over dish, it would require a $400 receiver and roughly $80 a month in additional internet charges alone. Along with the fact that is only marginally faster than dial-up. No thanks. I'm pleased with my choice.

I was finally watching all those dvds, playing all those video games I never got around to cause of work or shooting, etc, but the fiance just couldn't live without it so...it's back in the house. I was really enjoying the extra ammo money too.
Did you ever try your cable when you only had roadrunner? I'm not talking about a cable box. I mean did you ever plug the coax into your TV? You should have still had basic cable. Its embedded in the signal coming to your house.

Its not a crime. I am paying for it. I'm not stealing someone else's cable. The feed is being purposely poured into my house. But they want me to pay for a package deal with movie channels and other junk I don't want/need, instead of outright telling me that I have basic cable. I resent the insinuation that I am a criminal when I most certainly am not.

Even though I already knew this fact, I was told it by the installer that came to set up my internet too. In fact, he gave me a splitter and fabricated the perfect length wires for me right then and there. He told me that the company just doesn't want it to be well known because they like emptying your pockets.

If you don't believe me, call them up and ask. If you get an honest support tech, they'll tell you the same thing that I am.

STOP!!!

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL WHO WANT/HAVE CABLE INTERNET BUT DON'T WANT TO PAY FOR A CABLE TV PACKAGE:
Stop paying the company for something they are already giving you!
There is a dirty little secret that these monopolies don't want to tell you. If you are paying for a cable internet connection, then you ALREADY HAVE CABLE TV!!!
Trust me on this. It is completely true. The signal they are sending to an internet client is only different in one aspect. It has an IP address associated with it. Thats it. The regular basic cable feed is still being piped to your house, but since your computer doesn't care about it, it is disregarded.

Now for the beauty part. Go to your local Wallyworld and pick up a $3.00 coaxial cable splitter and two extra lengths of coax cable(you'll judge the length needed after reading on). Now go home and unplug the coax running to your cable modem. Install the splitter in the appropriate fashion with the coax from the wall going into the "IN" port, and connect both of the new cables into the "OUT" ports. Now, run one back to your cable modem, and the other to your favorite TV.

VIOLA!!! You now have basic cable without paying a dime extra(comparatively). This is the reason that DSL is so much cheaper. The cable companies realize that they are giving away a service that they don't wish to, but the only way to make a little dough off of it is to bump the cable internet price up.

I get all the channels I want and a ton that the wife loves.
I get Discovery, G4, Spike, Comedy Central, The History Channel, and a bunch more that I watch. The wife gets Lifetime, TLC, and a few others that deal with home decorating and life stories.

We are more than content, and with the total bill coming to 24.99 for 3Mbps internet and basic cable, I'm certainly not complaining.

BTW, I have Charter Cable, but they all work in the same fashion. Its a technology limitation that keeps them from being able to separate the TV feed from the internet signal, so it will work with your provider too.
