Re: What's your EDC knife?

Never been any kind of a "knife guy", but have recently found myself needing a knife for routine tasks and not having one handy, so, I decided to take the plunge and so far it's turned out well.

Picked up a very nice Kershaw Thermite from Amazon for less than $27 delivered (prime). It's not the best rated steel (8Cr13MoV) but has received good reviews for blade shape, sharpness and edge retention, especially for a knife at this price point. I'm finding the scales (one side scales only) to be plenty grippy, deployment to be a breeze and the (4-position up/down, rh/lh) clip to be quite good at both retention and concealment. It's a bit heavy at nearly 5 ounces, but I've not found that to be any problem for me. I kinda like the heft of it, compared to the lighter SOG Flash II that I was also considering.

The "Spanto" blade shape is especially interesting. Hollow ground along most of the blade, but smooth ground for added strength at the tip.

Only drawback so far is not having a T6 torx driver (so tiny!) so I can try out the different clip positions. It's comfy in my RH back pocket, which is the recommended carry location for the current clip position (RH back or LH front, tip down). Hope to try some RH front pocket carry as soon as I pick up a tool to move the clip   .

Stock photos from bladeforums. Looks exactly like mine.
