Re: HB3218 set for hearing April 18th!

So... is there anything worth doing on 3218?
Phone calls... ?? letters??

Or is it too much to hope for at this point?

Re: HB3218 set for hearing April 18th!

Any news on 3218?

I see the committee had a meeting scheduled for today... No updates on the bill's page yet. Was there a vote?
Next meeting is 5-May.... I assume that's a do-or-die date?

Next best steps? :bigear:

I've had zero luck with streaming this... I'm able to get it started (both video and audio) using VLC (I won't load Real Player, it's too spammy and performance is bad).. VLC will stream about 3 minutes before it freezes. Forget about skipping ahead.

Anyone have this saved to their local drive and care to share it?

Cheers.

Not too much heartache in that one. Almost sounds like a planned gimme'

Looks like this means the committee won't meet until after they adjourn after that.

RealVideo streams: http://www.house.state.tx.us/video-audio/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Mobile site (video works on my Android phone): http://www.txlegis.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
So much for the 8:AM start time on the meeting notice.
I assume that's common?

Glad I didn't make the trip... I'd have to be heading back home by now.
Thanks to all of those that are sticking it out to provide support. :thumbs2:

Re: HB3218 set for hearing April 18th!

From Senator Dan Patrick.
I wrote to thank him for his comments on Fox News last week, pointed out HB 3218 and asked him to support the Senate counterpart when he saw it on the floor.

Still... a very positive answer, even for what I expect is a form reply.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write and share your thoughts with me about gun rights in Texas. I am a strong proponent of Second Amendment rights. I am also a supporter of states' rights and believe that Texas should be in charge of governing our own state. I will continue supporting the right to carry guns and will oppose anything that might infringe on our constitutional rights.

See the "Central Court" Rotunda?
Follow the main hallway down (on the map) until you hit the four black dots.
E2.010 is adjacent to the upper left dot.

The "Extension" building is directly behind the main Capitol building in this map.

Re: HB3218 set for hearing April 18th!

Charles...
What's your spidey senses tell you about the chances of 3218 being reported favorably out of committee? I see several firearms related bills being forwarded to calendars with large margin votes (7-1 on HB 706 [campus carry] and 7-0-2 on HB 508 [Wrongful exclusion], HB 47 [reduced class time] 7-0-2).

Is there a key committee member or two that would benefit from more letters and calls?

Thanks.!

Small correction.... The labeling bill is HB 1747, in case you're keeping score. ;-)

Re: HB3218 set for hearing April 18th!

Please consider attending this meeting in Austin on Thursday.
This is THE 2A bill of the 2013 session.

http://www.legis.state.tx.us/tlodocs/83 ... 03218I.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
SECTION 5. Sections 46.15(a) and (b), Penal Code, are amended to read as follows:
(a) Sections 46.02 and 46.03 do not apply to:
<snip>
(5) a person who is carrying a concealed handgun and a
valid license issued under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government
Code, to carry a concealed handgun of the same category as the
handgun the person is carrying.
Take a minute and READ 46.03 again.... Think about what this bill would do.... All those prohibited places... No longer prohibited.

PLEASE DO ALL YOU CAN TO SUPPORT HB 3218!
