It may not be sport, but it is definitely professionals getting paid to perform feats of athleticism. I don't know if competition is a criteria of the definition for "professional sporting event" or not.
I would consider the Circus to be entertainment, not sport.

Plus... if a Tiger got loose I'd sure want my 50BMG DE handy.

HB508 began life trying to impose a penalty for persons and entities posting 30.06 signs where they were not allowed.

In the end it was not signed... I believe the Senate passed the conference committee version but the House did not.

Security theater, indeed. Michael Buble was terrific.
I am surprised that security wasn't a lot tighter. Everyone knows Michael Bublé fans are notorious troublemakers and known for starting riots and violent confrontations in the Mosh Pit.

However, Michael DOES have quite the potty-mouth. But that voice makes it all sound quite charming.

Agreed that this issue would best be resolved well in advance of showing up at the gate..

I did find the correct listing after I unchecked the BPP check box... I updated that comment a few posts later... Thanks!

I'm thinking this would be a more effective approach than trying to deal with the folks at AAC... Thoughts? :bigear:

Maybe some of it has changed, but I agree; trying to change this while you're standing in line at a concert probably won't work out. It needs to be addressed by prior contact with people who can actually make decisions at the AAC.

Thanks.... I think I'll give them a call and see what's what currently...
Can anyone think of a reason I should NOT poke this bear? (Other than it probably being an exercise in futility)

03Lightningrocks wrote:What do you do at any other place you are forbidden to carry?
Thinking about this.... I realized that the only places I go that are off limits are schools. I don't go to bars, Grapevine Mills is easy to avoid (courtesy of Amazon prime ;-) ). I'm not too worried about my lock box in the school parking lot for 10 minutes. Or the walk back/forth from the car. Although I have had an email chat with the Superintendent about allowing CC in the district (he wasn't very receptive, but I'm not done trying). Going to a meeting in a Church tonight, but it's not posted either.

As for "I don't have the time to fix every situation I cannot carry", sometimes I'm compelled to "do something", sometimes not. I'm not sure why this comment struck me as a bit of an accusation. Strange. We're just brainstorming here... It's entirely possible someone might have a good suggestion I (we) haven't considered. Nothing more than a few electrons spent in the effort so far.

Re: American Airlines Center - Dallas Circus

^^^ Stated differently....

Missing that concert you payed 250 bucks a ticket to see ... or risking a round trip from the parking lot unarmed and the possible theft of my gun locked in the car.

Really looking for a suggestion on what to say and to whom if I'm stopped at the gate....
We managed to overcome the State Fair objections. We have our own express lane in the State Capitol Building. The AAC needs fixing.

Re: American Airlines Center - Dallas Circus

So when I show up for the concert, get wanded, and told I cannot CHL into the building, what magic words get me inside without returning to the car or getting arrested.?

ETA:

What's the chance a security guard at AAC would understand 30.06(e)? /rhetorical /sarcasm
Sec. 30.06. TRESPASS BY HOLDER OF LICENSE TO CARRY CONCEALED HANDGUN. (a) A license holder commits an offense if the license holder:
(1) carries a handgun under the authority of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, on property of another without effective consent; and
(e) It is an exception to the application of this section that the property on which the license holder carries a handgun is owned or leased by a governmental entity and is not a premises or other place on which the license holder is prohibited from carrying the handgun under Section 46.03 or 46.035.

Very interesting..... !! Thanks.!
I had to turn off the BPP check box to find that..

Now to decide whether to just carry and see what happens, or rock the boat and send an email....

Re: American Airlines Center - Dallas Circus

The AAC is owned and operated by:
Owner (Current 2014)CENTER OPERATING COMPANY LP
BRIAN BOWEN VP FINANCE
2500 VICTORY AVE
DALLAS, TEXAS 752197601
DBA: AMERICAN AIRLINES CENTER
http://www.dallascad.org/AcctDetailBPP. ... 0300066000" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And Center Operating Company is:
http://www.answers.com/topic/center-ope ... ompany-l-p" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
a partnership owned by Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and Dallas Stars owner Tom Hicks.
Seems to me that, although public funds were used to help build the facility, it is NOT publicly owned. It's a private company. I'd be happy to find that I'm wrong on this and that they cannot (legally) restrict me from carrying at a concert, but that seems to not be the case. Is this location posted 30.06? I don't find them on texas3006.com .
