Really??? It has nothing to do with how "informed" a person is. So you think the cops are not going to flip out seeing a cowboy running around the scene of a shooting in progress with a semi automatic rifle??? You betcha! ;-)

Nobody ridiculed anyone. If you are feeling silly because of what I posted, I can't help that one bit!

...you don't give our LEOs much credit for having good sense...the worst response I've experienced or heard of another responsible citizen experiencing when helping stop a serious problem has been "Thanks, Buddy!!!" I guess you travel in different circles..."Zombie" and "batman" comments are regarded as insulting and ridiculing amongst the men I associate with...many of which are highly trained ex-cops and military...who've stepped up and put their butts on the line more than a few times...guess you don't understand that, either...this country wasn't started, preserved, or settled by folks who wouldn't take a hand to stop evil...thank God!!!

Re: Carbine in the car

...of course...legally speaking...what I was alluding to is how those who choose NOT to carry a long gun would feel if those of us who DO were to make equally desparaging remarks about their choice...spoken a little more sharply, we should make our own choices(which is our business) and keep our mouths shut about the choices others may make...there's a much greater chance of a responsible citizen doing well with his rifle or shotgun than there is of him/her getting into trouble with it...and a better than slim chance that they'll save the bacon of someone who mocked and ridiculed them someday...but if mocking others is what turns some folks on...I don't look for it to cease...

Re: Carbine in the car

...you're ill-informed...there have been several cases where a citizen's rifle was used BY THE POLICE to stop the problem...I personally know an officer that a citizen who showed up with a long gun saved his life...it's your right to choose to stay out of the way...but what gives you the right to ridicule those citizens who don't mind stepping up and helping? answer=nothing...

Bad example. Pure speculation to say what "could have happened". Besides, those guys were shot with everything from high powered rifles to handguns and kept right on going. An armed citizen trying to play batman would have simply increased the innocent killed count to 19.

Something like this example might be a more appropriate link for what actually happens. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyler_courthouse_shooting" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Mark Allen Wilson tried to intervene and succeeded in doing nothing more than losing his life.

...his .45 didn't match that AK real well...but he had backbone enough to try...did you know that after 9/11, several known terrorists in our country bragged about plans to pull the same things in our elementary schools that they did in Russia...don't tell me there's no need for some of us who'll step up to have more firepower to reach for than just handguns...if you don't believe it, you'll be one of them that's gettin' out of our way!!! Have any experience with riots??? They start spontaneously...you might have to fight your way home Monday...carry what you will or don't, but don't ridicule those who are more informed about how fast it can go waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay past what a handgun can get you out of...that's the beauty of choice...you make yours...the next one makes his...I'll fight by him, thank you...I like his AR, AK, or even 870 nearby if it goes nuts one fine morning...everytime someone posts here about his battle rifle and many mags in the car...I get this warm and fuzzy feeling...
