After an appropriate period of time (no issues, events, accidents), I'd like to see a concerted effort made to "Call Out" these folks (fear mongers) in a very public way. I don't mean in a such a fashion that we appear to be gloating, but rather as a demonstrative rebuttal to their past claims and fears.

And I mean REALLY keep the pressure up. The public needs to see and hear this...and we should not be timid about exposing it.
I've been thinking about this lately too and 100% agree that it should be done, not to gloat but to inform and document.

I may be in a position within a few years where I can speak and write freely; if so, I am planning on writing just such an article for the student newspapers of the Texas schools I've attended. I encourage others to keep this in mind and consider doing something similar in the future.

It’s against Texas law for guns that are supposed to be concealed to show, whether by accident or design.
The above is a flat out lie. That gives serious doubt to the credibility of anything else this reporter says.
Unfortunately, a UNT Police Captain (who is also a Texas CHL instructor and should know better) told the same lie last month to a group of UNT faculty, staff, and students at an info session called "What would you do if shots were fired on campus?". I wanted to speak up, but it definitely felt like a hostile environment for pro-CHLers - there were two large (TV news style, but UNT owned & operated) video cameras ostensibly recording the event, but both of them were actually recording the audience about 80% of the time (even when university officials were speaking).

These men are not fit to be COPs and are as equally dangerous as any mass murder who may walk onto a campus. They are telling us innocent people are going to be shot because "my officers don't have time." That's absurd.

:iagree: As I mentioned in another thread, several years ago at the Appalachian School of Law two off-duty plain-clothes LEOs who happened to be students retrieved guns from their cars after hearing shots fired on campus. I wonder whether the Rice and TxSt Chiefs have considered that their "shoot on sight" policy might kill another LEO.
