Re: .40 S&W carry ammo opinions
Personally I go for the 180 grain Winchester Ranger T-Series. Love them...fantastic performance, all my guns eat them up no problem, so I keep them in my 9mm, my .40, and my .45. If I had any other handgun calibers for defensive carry, I'd put them in those as well... EDIT: Remember, most importantl...

Re: Sales guy needs some carry advice
Get yourself a Milt Sparks Versa Max II, then grab some Kydex clips for it. When I'm carrying my 1911, mind you that's shirt tucked in wearing a button down and slacks, nobody except a few of my friends who also have the VM-II can tell. They just know THAT I'm carrying and look for the clips to tell...

Re: Draft Letter to Rep. Kevin Brady w/enclosure
I like most of what I see. There are a few nitpicky things I saw, but at the same time, I also realize that we do need to give some to get some... Honestly, the fact that you're being this proactive is a huge leap in the right direction for our community as CHLs as a whole. You can tell Mr. Brady th...

Re: DFW: Gunsmith help needed.
Contact Tony at Winchester Gallery and Shooting range. He's the gunsmith there, and really knows his stuff. Their shop is at 820 and Lancaster, and his phone number is 817-507-0069. Honestly, I'd be shocked if he charged you $30... He's really reasonable with prices.

Re: Seeking advice on my first black rifle
Eotech is the Holy Grail of red dot sights for black rifles. But the Bushnell Holosight is the same thing with a plastic frame instead of aluminum, made by the same company. What about the ACOG? That's the holy grail there, and priced accordingly. I dunno about that statement... they're certainly s...

Re: FOR SALE: Left handed holster (CQC)
It should. I have the .40, but it is supposed to fit all the calibers of XD Compacts. You're welcome to bring yours and try it out...billfromtx wrote:You reckon it'll fit an XD 45 Compact?
EDIT: Where are ya located? Perhaps you want to try it out this weekend or something?

Re: Rifle cleaning?
Ok, take these two pins out (see attached pic)... oh, note that this is NOT my rifle..., then when you pull out the trigger assembly, pay close attention to where everything goes, and when you pull it out, try not to let anything fly away. It shouldn't but just be on the safe side... Also, I couldn'...

Re: Rifle cleaning?
Take out the trigger assembly and clean it with a rag with some cleaner/lube/protectant on it. (I prefer CLP for stuff like this where you don't actually have any moving parts but you want it cleaned and oiled). After that, use some Q-tips with CLP on it to get in the smaller areas and corners. Then...

Anybody else catch this? “ I don’t believe people should be allowed to have guns in America,” Ms. Stewart told the paper, expaining that she bought a .357 Magnum after 9/11 — but would be happy to give it up if handguns were banned. “ Having a swimming pool is way more dangerous than having a gun ,”...

Re: Which gun am I carrying today?
My solution to that problem is this: Both of my holsters place the weapon of choice in the exact same spot. That solves the draw issue you may encounter if you frequently switch between shoulder holster, crossdraw, SOB, appendix, etc... For weapons, I train the most with the 1911. If you train to fl...

Re: 40 S&W - bullet weights
x2. Only difference here is my carry ammo is Winchester Ranger T-Series rather than Gold Dots...Vic wrote:I only use 180-grain in .40 S&W.
I carry Speer Gold Dots of the 180-grain variety for self-defense. I use Federal 180-grain for target practice.
I like 180-grain and will stick with it.

Ok, I guess I need to re-read my government textbook from a few years ago... I forgot that they didn't vote after the reading. That makes sense of course, but I just wasn't thinking apparently... That said, I'm going to go brush up on the path of bills in the Texas congress from introduction to pass...

Re: 1911 question
So far, I've only identified it with one magazine. I wasn't inserting with any more force than a normal quick-ish reload (ie: took about 2 seconds from table to inserted). I had some feed problems with some of the others, but I've got some more ideas for the other feed problems... I guess a detail ...

Re: 1911 question
Replacing the magazine catch is a possibility, and they are not the most expensive part of a 1911, but the trouble could be something else. Does this happen with every magazine used, or just one? If just one, it might be the magazine itself. I have also seen this happen occasionally when the shoote...
