If someone with a chl has to stare at someone's gun and a trooper said it was ok, maybe the ordinary person wouldn't notice it. Kind of like the clips on my crossbreed holster.

That's why you don't take advice from troopers about things they know nothing about more than anyone else.
Then again, the subject of him carrying in a post office may have never come up in conversation with the trooper. From what I read, the trooper had supposedly commented on his carry method, not necessarily the legality of carrying in post offices.....
hence why OP might want to contact instructor.
