Re: Occupy Wall Street
Well these guys are getting cleared out of just about every city they are still in, including NY mostly for "sanitation issues" YUCK! They do have a few legitimate grievances, but went about their protests all wrong so now the story is not their grievances, but their behavior (which has been disgusting). Way to go ding dongs--now all anyone will remember is the mess you made. Next time try a grown up protest.

Re: Occupy Wall Street
Sir I am not insulting your intelligence. You take offense VERY easily. My husband does very complex math every day as part of his job, and we still have an accountant do our taxes. Having a decent grasp of math does you no good with the current tax code. The tax code is incredibly long and complex and if you mess up you are in some serious hot water. The IRS won't give 2 cents for your math skills. So yes, I recommend having an accountant do your taxes. That is no insult to your intelligence. The Mad Moderate wrote:\
I have done my taxes every year since I was 16.Only once have I received a full refund. I am more than capable of doing math and figuring out how to do my taxes properly please do not insult my intelligence.

Re: Occupy Wall Street
Please, please when you do your taxes next time ask your friends for recommendations and go to a good accountant. If you are making 24K a year you should not be getting taxed hardly at all. If my DH and I are going to pay a higher rate so that those who earn less pay less, please at least only pay what you are required to and not one cent more. The Mad Moderate wrote: You seem to need a math lesson, I said overall higher rate, it I make 24k in a year and spend most of it I'm taxed 8% on what I spend, now if someone was to make 124k and spend 50k yes all 50K is taxed at 8% but what about the other 74k that goes untaxed, so overall I pay a higher rate than someone making more money than me. Do not insult my intelligence.

Re: Occupy Wall Street
Really? They were really working on that? I thought that was just a strange report among all the other strange reports. Cause that worked so well the first time oh about 150 years ago. And that was with geographical unity, natural resources, etc etc. Really I think these guys (the majority of them anyway) have 0 sense of history. .

Re: Occupy Wall Street
The occupiers here in Richmond VA got the boot last night. Nine arrested. Happily because they cleared them out at 1 am most were too sleepy (and cold) to do much more than shuffle out to the sidewalk with what what they could carry.

Re: Occupy Wall Street
If they don't stay on their side of the street the company will take action and at minimum start getting shuttles out on the opposite side of the building to the protests (The building takes up a city block). When I drove past yesterday they were chanting and shouting things at people, but they stayed on their side of the street. Apparently they chose their spot because it is the closest city park to the FED building. It is often a hang out spot for homeless people (most are harmless), so I bet two days ago the 7 homeless people sleeping in the park woke up and thought "Whats going on here! Who are all these fake homeless people and why do they have tents and air mattresses."
As for things being stolen--well there is a saying "no honor among theives" they are there to force other to give them what is not theirs why be surprised when others do the same to you.

Re: Occupy Wall Street
Well I knew it would happen eventually. They have set up shop in Richmond (VA) as well. Right across the street from my DH work. GREEEAAATTTT...... He can't carry to work (against policy), his car has to be parked 5 blocks away . Now he has to walk to and from work in business attire (because he is a business man--an analyst) and try to not get mobbed. We are buying him a can of industrial strength pepper spray this week (my little can won't cut the mustard here), and if they stay for long (which they have everywhere else) we will have to look at getting him a tazer (legal where we live).

"Growing up"
The good news is I have zero doubt these wall street protests will soon be over. The first good cold snap that hits new york, they'll scurry back to their moms basements and vw buses. The ones in LA might go a bit longer, but the NY protests should be over in a month or less.
I LOVE IT! Ah poor babies having a hard time finding a 50k job right out of college. Welcome to the real world. Take that entry level position at $10 an hour and see where it might put you. Don't whine about things you can't change--protesting banks is going to do absolutely nothing. At least the tea party protests things it can change--politicians.
