Re: HB910 on House Calendar for 3rd Reading

I can say this:

I am for OC, Constitutional Carry, CC, no off limit areas, the whole 9 yards, "shall not be infringed" is my goal.....we should continue to fight for these things.

What I have come to appreciate is the way we are going to get there, although we must admit that some times the next step is a big leap, but generally its gonna happen a little at a time and that's better than nothing. Closely following this whole process and the watching the debates/voting has been an educational one for me. I have a better understanding of what it takes to get things done and what we are up against.

Charles's comment have restored my hope that things are gonna work out.

Re: HB910 on House Calendar for 3rd Reading

It seemed like it was too good to be true that anything was going to get done. Not at all knock on those whose efforts got us this far (THANKS FOR YOUR EFFORTS!), but rather an indictment on those who are standing in the way of progress.

And just for the sake of argument, if the fate of HB910 is to let the clock run out, what chance did HB308 and SB11 ever really have?

We have to find something to do until the HB910 action resumes. Does anybody have any new news as to when that might be?

Don't forget running the serial of the gun and emptying the chamber and magazine, dumping the rounds on the sidewalk before giving it back to you, for "officer safety."

Don't you think that's a little bit of a conspiracy theorist point of view? I mean really, how many people do you know, or anyone for that matter, that have ever had an officer "dumping rounds on the sidewalk..."...?
It happen to me years ago while living in LA-Louisiana, I was pulled over for speeding, informed the state trooper of CHL, he disarmed me, dropped the mag and emptied the one in the chamber on the ground then set it all in the hood of my truck not to gently, scratching the H E double hockey sticks out of it-both truck and gun. The round on the ground covered in grit, dirt and other abrasive stuff scuffed up the brass and projectile seemed a little out of shape.

Not only did I get a ticket but also a scratched gun, truck and round that did not seem quite right so I had to dispense of an expensive JHP round at the range.

Then last year, in LA again, this time with TX chl, a local yokel pulled me over, again I informed of CHL and he disarmed me and then took my gun and cleared it and placed it in his vehicle and did not return it to me until the stop was over. Im sure he ran the serial #. He was so nervous and wound up about it I thought he was gonna explode. All was professional but he really seemed uncomfortable, the kinda LEO who should stick to a desk job. The other was the kinda LEO who just wanted to be disagreeable because he could.

So it's not far fetched to run into the kinda police officer who might give you unnecessary grief for "your safety" or just because he could. So far I all LEO encounters in TX have been much better, no disarming.

I am totally guessing on 4/27 or 4/28 would be next senate committee meeting for STATE AFFAIRS (same committee for SB17) or is it Criminal Justice? It's not on either committee agenda before then.

Re: HB910 Friday April 17, House Calendar for 2nd Reading

What I just heard amendment 8 say is that people in large city's can't be trusted because they are too diverse? I think that has some racial undertones.

When I see gljjt I think Gidget. Sorry. I may have mentioned that before in another thread?

Not really directed at you personally but all the forget OC if it hurts my precious 30.06 crowd.

For all the good it does IMHO we all should learn not to rely on 30.06, it's a mere technicality that is easily overcome and legally deny you CC. HB 2405 is attempting to gut 30.06 all by itself. If you hang your hopes and dreams on 30.06 you will be disappointed sooner or later. We need to make all the progress we can.
