There really isn't a good average on the BG wait, it varies a lot. Once it goes green there's a better estimated time till mailbox, being within 2 weeks, give or take.nat68han wrote:Everything is green on mine but background check. What is the average wait on BG?

Congrats Finally. I was starting to feel bad.djjoshuad wrote:confirming the shared folder, mine now says MAILED!
Now it's a race within the USPS, and then to Wally World for our initiations :)
edit: the USPS does not observe a holiday this weekend, but there will surely be an increase in volume of mail due to greeting cards. Perhaps I should have requested that the DPS put my license in a card :)

Re: March 2011 Applications
Mine still has the "!" inside a yellow triangle next to the "application" part of the status. Don't worry about it. I'm not sure why the application keeps that symbol beside it, but that symbol turns to a green check mark when everything is cleared, (i.e. background, fingerprints, etc.) I received my card last week and my status still has that yellow "!" next to it.Teamless wrote:I haven't heard of that before, in this case, calling may be justified, but they could say that "we sent you a letter, please respond once you receive it" or something as welljladams23 wrote:Also my application has an ! by it

Plastic in my mailbox. what a glorious day. 35 days from the day I sent the forms. 33 days from the day they received it.

Welcome Guys/Gals, You're Late!! Ok well not really. Enjoy this forum, it's good stuff. Try not to pull your hair out while waiting and be sure not to pace in the same place, you'll wear a hole through your floor.

Re: March 2011 Applications
pretty much my thoughts as well.djjoshuad wrote:Anyway, my prints now show as "cleared." Maybe that means they couldn't *start* on my BG check until the prints were approved... thoughts?
It may not matter much as far as the speed per county, but I believe I live in Montgomery, at least that's what i keep getting told elsewhere. My address is technically in the Woodlands, though at the very back side, and I'm not really in the Woodlands demographic range(despite my lousy/humerous to me username, I couldn't afford the front porch to some of these places), so I just use the Magnolia name to keep from getting those looks I've seen after telling people I live there.rayman1968 wrote: Spring and Magnolia are both in Harris county, but I doubt the county that you live in has much bearing on how fast your appilcation processes.

Re: March 2011 Applications
Actually I was sure mine might take longer since I moved to montgomery about 6 months ago. I have lived in Denton and Tarrant counties in the last 5 years, and in a few different houses/apartments, and had the same job in grapevine for 10 years prior to the move. Did you do ink prints or electronic? I thought I saw djjoshaud put down ink prints somewhere(I may be mistaken) maybe that has something to do with it. My prints showed "cleard" as of my very first status update. Hopefully you guys don't take too much longer. I admit it does seem odd and I can understand it being frustrating. as said before, it is the government we're dealing with.Slowplay wrote:I might get a buzz cut so I don't pull the rest of my hair out .djjoshuad wrote:ugh, mine is still showing BG under review... and I mailed mine a few days before you guys! I don't think there's anything on my BG to cause me any problems... I mean, I have lived in the same county since 2003 and I haven't had so much as a traffic ticket in 10 years. Hopefully it'll update by Monday so I don't pull the rest of my hair out :)
Yeah, mine is processing a bit slower too. I'm not sure if Rayman and Bigmoney work and live in the same counties, but I don't. I assumed it would take longer for my background check since there are two counties involved (& I have a fairly common name).
Also, it looks like they're both in the Houston area. Maybe Harris and Montgomery counties are faster than ours.
It reminds me of going to court in NRH to pay a speeding ticket when I was 17. Everyone was forced to see the judge, and I was the last person to arrive out of like 75 people. Because I was last to show, my file was on top, and I was the first out the door. I didn't mind but how do you think the first person there felt? There may be a chance that the DPS works in a similar fashion....?

Re: March 2011 Applications
Well I guess my post here from last night was a bunch of bull. Just made my morning check and background cleared. So everything is good and green. But it still says manufacture pending. oh well, at least i know there's no surprises for me and that it shouldn't be toooo long now. Come on wally walk!bigmoney wrote:I'm curious about how long it will take for my background to clear since i've lived in 3 different counties in the last 5 years. I read somewhere that each county has to pass you off before you're cleared, I just don't know if it's electronic or snail mailed. I'd be curious about how much longer it might take for those of us that have lived extra places than the more stationary folks.

Re: March 2011 Applications
Wonder if some liberal IT person is sitting there in Austin laughing at a program they wrote to keep the status from changing for anybody who checks it more than once per week. Oh, they got one up on us there,... Not
my sense of humor might be a little off, but hey, it makes me laugh. without my sarcasim, i don't have much else, so i'm told

Re: March 2011 Applications
Welcome. Considering the cutoff for paper prints on march 1, and with you stating that you mailed everythig in on march 1, I'm thinking you'll more than likely have to do the fast printing. I would call the help line and find out, otherwise it'll just delay your process further.rcf005 wrote:I just joined by recommendation of Rayman! I did everything online, sent in my packet on March 1st, got delivery confirmation on March 3rd, and I'm now playing the waiting game just like the rest of you. And my online status still says they have not received my packet. I think I am going to go get the electronic fingerprinting done along with the paper prints I sent in because I have a feeling they will be denied. It's really nice to know that I'm not the only one waiting though!
I've almost given up checking my status for now, seeing as how so many other people have stated how far behind the system is on updating it. Confirmation mail confims they received it, so I'll just wait a while. I've got a full scheudule of classes to keep me busy, along with following the trail on the campus carry. I'm waiting for a lot to happen at once.
Again, welcome, and if you haven't read much on here, make some time to browse, this place is awesome and overwhelmingly informative.
