That's kind of scary. Hopefully you had it in a holster. I could just see that happening and have a freak out situation with her jump or something and a slight pull of the trigger.wharvey wrote:Never been hurt but have banged chair arms a few times. When I pocket carry, which is pretty often in this heat, my biggest issue comes from my wife. She has a bad habit of just reaching into my pocket for my keys. (Easier for her than hunting in that large black hole she calls a purse )
When not pocket carrying I keep them my right front pocket and switch sides when I have my gun there. The expression on her face first time she reached in and grabbed than gun's grip instead of keys was priceless. Thankfully she had the presence of mind not to pull it out.

Re: Lesson Learned.....Painfully
yeah i'm not really too big for the chair. I'm not too big at all. 5' 10, 195lb. Mostly was due to having someone on my left side and no one on my right, so i was kind of being "pushed" to the right. the seats are kind of small too. i'm pretty sure movie theatres have more spacious seating.

Re: Lesson Learned.....Painfully
Yeah, I'm not a big hugger, and my dear ol mother is usually the only one that tries and succeeds. Otherwise I've already made a natural reaction of a left hand hug/pat with the right arm guarding the hip as inconspicuous as possible. I'm naturally self-guarding and wary of others already, so those who know me aren't too thrown off by my avoiding unneccessary body contact. I'm not sure how many other strange ways there might be to hurt yourself by the mere presence of the rig being there, but here's to not finding out

Lesson Learned.....Painfully
So I carried to church tonight with the folks, then out to eat. But I learned tonight to be very aware of the armrests at the church, or other stadium type seating. When I went to sit down when we first arrived, the armrest caught the bottom side of my rig ("The Answer" holster/M&Pc), and the whole thing jammed up in my side bruising my ribs and actually drawing a small amount of blood. So I say, lesson learned. A rig might give some protection from a straight from the side type of attack from a counter or something, but dang if i didn't flop down with enough force to cause a permanent and instant "Don't do that again" in my mind. So now I have a small bruise, which doesn't happen easily to me, and about a 1/8th inch cut to remind me. Good thing I didn't have a hammer style sidearm on me.
Any other noob accidents experienced out there to be aware of?
