I love knives as much as I love guns. They are tools which fit a task. I have one for virtually every occasion. There are some great recommendations on this thread. While I have a fairly large blade collection, I generally rotate between a benchmade 940, a spyderco para 3, and a couple of microtechs.

A good knife doesn’t have to be expensive but a good steel with a good grind and heat treatment does command a bit of a premium. I love m390, CTS-xhp/204p, and all the cpm steels. I do find that for ME and the way I use my blades that cpm s30v is the easiest to live with. It is a great all round performer for me and I can get it shaving sharp in a couple of minutes on a sharpmaker.

I like light weight and slim profile for edc. Sometimes I need the utmost concealment and then sometimes a knife needs to be “something else.” Like I said all tools for different purposes.
