Re: October 2011 Applications
It will be here sometime this week, keep the faith up.
Just a thought. When you get that plastic, you are going to be joyous; a lot of work/money went into getting that! Then you are holding it, and a new sense of responsibility comes over you. Yes, you already understood and felt the heavy mantle of responsibility while you were working on getting it, but this is different. It is a sense that you, legally, may now put on your weapon and venture forth. You, now, have become a more potent sheepdog. You, now, may have to engage in lethal combat. That goes through your mind as you put the card in your wallet, holster up your weapon, get in your car, and start your exploration of a brave new world.
Your carefully crafted philosophy concerning carrying, drawing, using, conflict resolution, and many other things gun-related, will start to undergo a metamorphosis from the chrysalis stage to the mature adult phase of carrying. Once you have that extra weight on, some of the things you thought to be the underpinnings of your beliefs, may change.
You start to become your own expert while maintaining lists of experts and resources you rely on. You may hear something, for the second time, that you agreed with at first...but now understand it no longer fits in with your system. You will come on to this forum and start to post your own, well-informed, crafted from experience, opinions that will carry the weight of a member who is living it daily.
Enjoy your last few days of being able to be rightfully ignorant of some aspects of CHL that you could not actually internalize while waiting for the process to finish.

Can't argue with that decision any more! The mere history of having shot one convinced me that Gaston knew what the heck he was doing.Craig8d8 wrote:Johnson 99.9% sure I've made my mind up on the Glock 27. I have a 22 now that I shoot great and have shot a 27 even better! Summer time I'll be looking for a J frame S&W.

Re: October 2011 Applications
They may have lost that little chart with the alphabet on it, so they are not sure what comes after "A".
dang it, my daughter's application is in the review phase there. It is a lot like finally buying a Glock, and liking it...you have to swallow hard and admit there are guns outside of the Springfield and Kahr universe, and there are excellent universities outside of Texas Tech.

Re: October 2011 Applications
Patience. The thing is, it will get to you as long as you meet all of the criteria. I know it seems forever...but it will show up in your mailbox. Mine did last May, and now it seems like the wait was nothing, and it also seems like carrying is completely second nature.
This is the second best part of your experience, and the best part is seeing that envelope. Past that point, you put on a very heavy robe of responsibility that literally changes your life. You know you can now carry most everywhere, and you know you have the capacity to end a life at almost any given time...really, that is not as much fun as waiting for your license, or getting it in the mail.

Re: October 2011 Applications
I thought I would remember my DL# forever after typing it in 10 times a day for two months, but no, I had to take it out and look at it yesterday. I guess my little pea-brain only retains what it absolutely needs to at any given time.

Congrats guys! Now get out there and do a properly documented Wally Walk...or send the plastic back in while chanting, "I am unworthy, I am unworthy".

Re: October 2011 Applications
Since you rarely get into a class very quickly, why do I see so many people waiting to complete their online application and getting their prints done? Why not knock those things out so they can get right on it?
