They soak up less when the medicine is .45 caliber. The only problem is that people can live for several seconds, or longer, after sustaining a fatal gunshot wound. What they choose to do with that time is up to them, but some of them decide to do what damage they can. Please don't think real life imitates the movies and that one shot cures all.
