I want to thank you guys for all the great information. Being 28 years old, I plan on teaching for a long time as my side job(plenty of people at my work & my parents work are already fronting me money to take a CHL or basic shotgun course).


Some updates, I am checking into NRA certification first, but I am also going to take the shotgun course as well(I'm a class A sporting clays shooter & practice Olympic skeet, so I don't think it would be that bad) and maybe the metallic cartridge reloading course(I reload as it is).



Now if I can only figure out a business plan. I might take an introductory business course at a local college.

I've got the funding, means and everything else set...but

From reading weeks worth of material, I've come up with this so far.


Before I apply to the DPS CHL Instructor website I need to have the following in my portfolio(as so I am not rushing to get every class taken at once)...

1. NRA BIT Class
2. NRA Instructor Pistol Shooting Course


I am in Houston, Texas. Exactly who do I need to be in contact with to take the previously mentioned certification courses? Specifically the BIT course. If anyone can recommend who or where to find a person/organization who can help me fulfill these requirements I would appreciate it. Some of the information on the NRA instructor portal is spotty at best.
