Re: XDS 45 vs G36
I have three .45s ... two 1911s and an XDs ... IMHO, the recoil is about the same ... I love the XDs, plan to replace my PM9 with it for EDC as soon as I get a few more rounds through it ... shoot one before you reject it ...

Re: SXSW Austin Convention Center
I was at an RV show there two weeks ago, there are no 30.06 signs, I carried with no concerns ... strangely, we passed a Starbucks in a nearby hotel and it had a 30.06 sign. Thought Starbucks position was they obey local laws on concealed carry .. it's the only one I've seen in a Starbucks and it ma...

Re: Moving to Texas. Any advice?
Moved here from CA when I retired 10 years ago ... while the government in Austin is as blue as SF's, they have no particular power over guns. I live in a small town north of Austin and gun-friendly is the best way to describe it ... Got my CHL the legally required 6 months after arriving and have c...

Re: New Yorkers - We will NOT comply
Why is it a surprise that the revolution would start in NY? Where is it going to start? Arizona? Texas? Revolutions begin among the most down-trodden, and if a firearms-related revolution is coming, NY has to be home to a lot of the down-trodden, gun-wise ... Beat a man down, if he has any sand he r...

Re: Gun stores that don't allow CHL carry
The gun shop I frequent doesn't restrict CHL holders from carrying inside ... instead, they have a sign as you enter that says keep hands out of your pockets and in sight at all times ... both the guys behind the counter are armed and appear to know what they're doing ...

Cinemark "no guns allowed"
I don't know if this is news to anybody but me ... my wife and I went to a Cinemark theater in Cedar Park today to see Les Miserables (it was excellent) and noticed as we bought our tickets that the theater had posted a list of a few things they didn't want you to do inside -- last on the list was &...

Re: Be careful with those emails
The issue to me isn't that they have all this stored and, lucky us, don't have the time to go through it ... the issue is that if they want to cause you trouble, they can FIND your stuff, find something in it they don't like, and use it against you ... storage of this kind of material is so complete...

Re: Membership in the USCCA?
Signed up mainly to get their insurance; the magazine is good, very entertaining, but the price is really high so I'm not renewing ... gonna send half of what I pay them to NRA, buy ammo with the other half ... they have a lot of stuff for sale; I think the guy running it is sincere but gets carried...

Re: Door To Door Solicitor Today
In 10 years living in this house, the only people who have come to my door are politicians (sadly, they are not listed as game animals), neighbors and trick-or-treaters. Oh yeah, and some relatives ... I've found that if you keep quiet and don't answer the door, the relatives will go away ... but I ...

Re: A reminder of the idiots in our lives
That's an amazingly scary story ... Because we shoot, we take the rules of safety seriously. For non-shooters, it's apparently hard to believe that somebody would have a loaded gun around ... wow ... wife and I are alone here with a dog and cat; thank the stars animals don't have opposible thumbs ...

Re: As of today over 4000 rounds through my XDm 9
I love my XDm-9 ... since I'm retired and spend most of the year in shorts, I pocket carry and so my EDC is a Kahr PM9 ... but I've got probably 600 rds through my Springer so far and have also had no issues whatsoever ... it's a tackdriver at 7 and 15 yds and if it had night sights -- one of these ...

Re: XDS 45 Ammo
Don't have an XDs -- yet -- but I carry Hornady Critical Defense standard pressure rounds in both my 4-inch Springer Loaded (my nightstand gun) and in my 3-inch Kimber UCII (a cool-weather carry choice) ... never had a feed problem with either gun ... I also carry it in my regular EDC Kahr PM9 and i...
