Hi RockingRook,RockingRook wrote: Do you like yours? Do you use it for carry?
I actually owned three PX4's.. (full size, the compact version and the sub compact all 9mm's). I think they are excellent DA/SA guns.
I used to carry the PX4 SubCompact with no problems at all... (now I'm carrying a Kimber Ultra CDP II 45ACP single stack gun) but when I'm in the mood for double stack 9mm's I will consider picking up one of my PX4's without hesitation...

It looks that the problem (on the bad models) is specifically on the takedown pin of the sub compact... that even when it's not rotated on the 90 degree angle it will come loose or out (causing what you described). I'm showing you here a link from another forum that described the problem you saw ... and how Beretta responded to the problem/solving the issue. I have no doubt they will solve yours. Good luck, Keep us posted!
This is the link of that source:

The gun has returned from the repair shop.
The repair ticket states that the takedown pin was refitted. Ted attempted to remove the takedown pin without rotating it 90 degrees and it would not budge. That's a good sign. Ted removed the pin properly for inspection. The grooves are cut wider and much deeper into the pin now.
Here are pictures of the new pin and repair slip. Tomorrow we are planning to go put some rounds down range, and I'll report again after that.
