I had the pleasure of using this range to introduce a lady professional from a very liberal NE state to the fun of shooting. She had never shot a pistol but being in the Lone Star State freed her from her inhibitions and the control of her anti-gun husband long enough to shoot a box of 45s. I supplied the gun. She paid the range fee and bot the ammo. Turned out to be a very good shot. She loved the experience but has not shot again since. Too bad.

This store also has a rifle range that runs under the store. I'm guessing it is 100 yards.

What are the range fees? does cabela's have rifle range too?

If I'm not mistaken the range fees are 8-9 bucks and hour. Provided you supply your own ammo and paper targets.

Cabela's stores do not have ranges.

I enjoy shooting at BPS in Grapevine, especially during the Texas summer.

Bass Pro/Grapevine is my usual spot to shoot.

It used to be $10 for an hour on the pistol range.

Now IIRC, it's gone to $12.99.

I have never been kicked out of there at the 61st minute.
They always just let me stay until I shoot off the ammo in
my range bag!

I did my CHL qualifying there. It was under the control of the gentleman that was teaching the CHL course at the time, so I cannot comment on the staff there but I definitely liked the range and intend to head down there for some practice time pretty soon.

Just call up the Bass pro main number to the store and ask to be transferred to the range. As far as I know you can't get back to the counter yourself.

BPS has a very nice range. I qualified there as well.

It had been awhile since I've shot there. But my dad and I shot there a little over a week ago and I've gotta tell ya that it seemed like we were inconveniencing the counter guy due to his conversation with the "CHL instructor" that was there. Sorry we bothered you, just wanted to shoot. I purposely asked more questions, etc to prolong their misery in dealing with us. Had they been my employees they would've been offered a choice, straighten up or walk. Oh, it was HOTTTT on the range, sweat city. Seriously hot, no kidding. My experience doesn't make me want to ho back, but I can do a quick session during lunch. I usually go to DFW Gun Range, I can shoot full-auto there.

I also use BPs range as my primary range. Sometimes the person behind the counter is friendly and easy going and sometimes I do get the impression that I'm interrupting them. Whatever! I'm not there to socialize with them. BP used to not allow silhouettes, but since they started doing CHL stuff I think they changed that policy. I have not tested it yet. I think the only time they will hold anyone to the 60 minute limit is if it is busy and there are a few people waiting.

Hot in the summer and cold in the winter. I think others have mentioned that it very expensive to heat and cool an indoor range because of the ventilation requirements. Nature of the beast.

Oh, and make sure to call before making the trip. The range is sometimes closed for various reasons.

BP used to not be OK with silhouette targets, now they are. I bought a silhouette target and when I was asking about the targets that were available I pointed to these nice/neat hanging silhouette targets - the "chl instructor" guy says "no, not those, those are for my classes." The counter guy pointed to a barrel behind the counter that held rolled up silhouette targets, the he said they had cardboard and tape on the range so they'd lay flat... Silly me, what was I thinking?

And, of course, as you can probably tell by my previous post...well, it came time to head to the range...I asked the counter guy "do I get the target or do you?" (as it was behind the counter). He got it for me. Gotta tell ya, when you're the only game in town (well, Grapevine), you can apparently do as you please. I remember that the greeters used to want to lock your guns at the door and then unlock at the range...it seems they've done away with that.

Good to hear they are decent. I took my wife there a few months ago and it was pretty crowded so we went to Winchester instead.

Can someone clarify the distance of the rifle range there? I've been wishing for an indoor 100 yd range in DFW.
