Range Report ....The Arms Room 11/18/2011

I decided to take my 22 year old daughter to the range today. I also needed to try some new ammunition in the LWRC M6.

We didn't get there until early afternoon and there was a slight wait for a rifle bay. I suspect if we were only going to shoot pistol we would have been on a lane without a delay.

My bags were zip tied and checked in (they had me fill out a name tag :thumbs2: )...but only one for two bags.

After wandering through the store for about 10 minutes we were paged.

I only took 4 firearms to shoot. The AR, the Glock 19, the Taurus 709 and the CAI P-64. The other two stayed concealed :biggrinjester:

I tried the Monach Steel 223 55gr in the AR and it ran flawlessly (this is the ammo I wanted to try out). I was a little worried because I had heard that running steel cased ammo through the weapon could cause issues with the feed of eject. No such issue occured and it ran flawlessly through 20 rounds. It also ate 40 rounds of T's Guns and Ammo 55Gr FMJBT without a single issue too.

My daughter has a distinct preference for the G19 and she hated the P64...but it does kick a little and is a little hard on the hands. It sure is accurate though!

The Taurus was a little un-nerving for her as the trigger pull is so long on the gun that she actually thought it was not working the first time she tried it. She doesn't like that gun either! "rlol"

All told we shot for about 45 minutes and run through about 150 rounds without a single failure. It was good to spend some quality range time with my daughter and she seems to be getting the hang of things pretty well considering it was only her 2nd time at the range. I may have to carefully consider getting her a left handed gun though.

The range itself was not very busy at all and the whole experience was very pleasant.

I still think that the P-64 is one of my favorite guns but it sure is a lively one. The AR is an awesome rifle, accurate and a joy to shoot. I was a little disappointed in my Taurus as I have been using this as a EDC weapon a lot more recnetly as the weight is so much less than a fully loaded Glock 30 and I am getting on in years! I can certainly say I am way more accurate with the Glock 30 than the Taurus 709. Still hitting tight groups but definately hitting lower than aim point. I guess more practice with it is called for. :fire

As for the Glock 19.... well what more needs saying, it a Glock :) It was smooth, accurate and reliable. Not the prettiest gun, but cartainly one of the best to shoot, especially for a newcomer.

All weapons are cleaned and ready for the next time.

Fun day :)
