I thought the CHL class was great (several years ago when I took it). However, the prices are marked up so bad on guns, accessories, and ammo, I refuse to give them my business.
I have seriously seen $600-800 AR-15's and several handgun brands :waiting: :grumble (gun show prices, Academy prices, and the competing shop down the road) at 50% markups...

So no steel/aluminum case, no semi-wadcutters (assuming no .22LR since that's exposed lead), and no 5.7x28 ammo. Nice! If they keep this up, then the only thing they'll allow is spitballs.
They allow 22lr on the pistol range without a problem.
Ive heard them explain to people why they dont allow steel/aluminum case. They claim they are dangerous and pieces of the metal can fly downrange, etc. but the real reason is they cant resell the cases.
Yup. They even said we could shoot my daughter's M&P15-22 in there.

I took my CHL class there. The instructor was knowledgable and overall it was a good experience. The prices when I was there last time on pistols was about par with what you see at Cheaper than Dirt or Cabela's. You have t have competitive prices now if you want to move product.

The range is okay but I am ready for one of the Frisco Gun Club to open this December since it is on my way home.

I took my first two CHL classes there and also thought they were good. Pistol prices, at least on Glocks, are about $50 less than others. It seems to me, however, that they more than make that up on their rifles.

Both are fighting for the Frisco Gun Club name.
The whole Frisco shooting range thing is going no where fast. If they are fighting over a name then that shows you what I am talking about. I drove by the All Stars Ave. location and its just a sign. They have not started construction and if the do it will take a year to open. If Bullet Trap wins than I will be driving to Lewisville as they should have their range open in the next 6 mo. .....I hope. As far as the name goes I don't want to join a club. I just want to shoot!

Really?? I thought it was settled before the groundbreaking ceremony in April. I was really looking forward to the DFW Gun Club build. It'll be the closet to me. I haven't driven by it since then. I was planning to submit my membership application next month. Maybe I should hold off for a little longer.

Wow BSB I had not realized there were two Frisco gun ranges in the works...that's kind of crazy.

RSJ: Some stuff might be marked up but quite a bit is not. They are the cheapest decent quality 9mm ammo I have found in the DFW area for example.

I'll be happy to give them another look, but between Cheaper than Dirt, Gunmaster, Academy, Cabelas and others in the area, they rank last IMHO.

I never buy a gun from anywhere else. With the about 3% member discount they beat Academy every time, CTD most of the time, and Cowbellah's all the time.

For buying a gun itself I strongly recommend grabagun.com, you buy online and select local pickup at the coppell store. Great service & prices, no shipping charges unlike cheaperthandirt and you just go pick it up.

I have been in and out of there for odds and ends, but some of the people they hire are not what i would call savvy. One time I over heard one of there employes say some thing to a customer that, as a both military and CHL instructor would slap a student for doing, would get some one killed. I don't have time to write what he said, but i made a quick point not to embarrass him in front of his customer and call over a manager to correct him from doing something like that again. Some of there guys are cool, but most are useless.

Not surprising. I will NOT be giving that range/store any of my money. I am all about supporting a local business...but not at that markup!
