Unfortunately the only range that was in that area closed down. (Hill Country Rifle) I have several that come to my range In Lockhart from Wimberely, Dripping Springs and San Marcos to make a day of it. You can check out my info at

It was an interesting place, to be sure. I had an entertaining trip taking a Jewish friend of mine shooting out there. We had to be covert about his ancestral heritage, and fortunately only had to listen to ol' Crazy Richard prattle on a little while about the gold-seeking Jewish warlocks and the approaching end of the world before we got to commence our shooting. Unfortunately, Richard's tendencies led to the demise of the place. Every time the new end of the world was coming up, he'd stop maintaining the place, until the date changed at the last minute due to inaccurate calculations. Then he'd spruce things up and then the range would decline again in the same cycle. From what I can tell, the county eventually took so much land because of non-payment of taxes that that the range was useless. Pity, too - it was the only place around to shoot NFA stuff.
I'm a member at Matt's range, and it is a great place to shoot. I recommend it.
