Best Shot Range -Friendswood, Pearland, Webster, Clear Lake,

Some of you may be familiar with the old Shooting range that was on 2351 in Friendswood. It's where I've been going since I got my gun about 1.5 years ago. It was in pretty rough shape. Well, back in March of this year it changed ownership and management. I went earlier this year, I think April or so and met Matt (the new owner). The place was already much better at that point, but it was still essentially under construction as Matt renovated the place.

I went back and took my CHL this past Sat, and all I can say is WOW. The place is completely different. The front area is much bigger and brighter. He's got a big TV and several tables. The shooting area is also 100% improved. Before there was poor ventilation, always lots of brass on the floor, and if it had rained, lots of water too. I used to stand on the spent shells to keep my shoes out of the water. Now the place is clean and bright with lots of ventilation. All of the lanes work now (definitely was not the case before). I'm thrilled with the difference. Best Shot is a great addition to the area. If you live in eastern Pearland, Webster, Friendswood, Clear Lake and probably even League City and Alvin, you should check out Best Shot Range. Oh, and you don't have to be afraid to go into the bathrooms which is always nice (men's room and ladies room). The place has a family feel, and Matt sponsors lots of activities for young folks. For instance, there is a shooting camp for kids listed in the last email that I got that runs the week between Christmas and New Years.

The only improvement that Matt could make is to keep his website http://www.bestshotrange.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; more up to date. He teaches lots of classes, but unless you've given him your email address, you won't know it because his website is a tad behind. In his defense, he said that he's changed webmasters, and he's gotten a bit behind because of that.

I'm not affiliated with Matt or the range in any way other than being a happy customer.

Matt's got a good operation going there. We meet there on Sunday evenings 5-7 to practice defensive shooting skills. Forum member fm2 runs drills and scenarios - great stuff for a new chl'er like me.

Went there to try out a Walther they had as a rental. Good place. Good folks. You have to know where it is to find it, but worth the trip.

Yeah, he needs better signage. It gets lost among all of the other stuff on the road, and since the building is so far back and out of the way....

I just look for the chruch, then turn left. There is a sign, but coming from the I-45 direction you have to REALLY be looking for it to see it. Worth it though. Nice place, nice folks.

I'm not sure if he can order guns or not. I would certainly give him a call and ask. He can do the FFL transfer for sure.
