Possibly in the Roanoke, Southlake, Keller, Alliance area.
I'm curious about how to start something like this. What would be needed? Obviously land, a building, range construction, enough members to cover cost etc.. Is it even feasible? I was thinking you could run it as a co-op and have range members volunteer their time to help run it. I suppose you could also have people off the street that come in and pay to help pay for it. Sell guns, equipment etc.. and have the profit's go back to the range. If there is any left over at the end of the year put it towards improvements, invest it or split it as profit sharing for the members.
Thoughts?

There have been a couple of attempts to start ranges over in that area. One fell through due to one brother killing the other, and the surviving brother ending up in jail. And, one I believe is on hold due to a plans for a range that is supposedly going to open soon http://www.marketwire.com/press-release ... 316749.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. As a matter for fact, I you were the one that made the post asking about it.
Bottom line, there is a ton of work that is required to put a real range together. One of the best things you can do is attend an NRA Range Development and Operations Conference http://www.nrahq.org/shootingrange/development.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; They can tell you all of the ins and outs of setting up an operating range.

Yes, I did post about the other range. I'm told it may be up by the end of the summer but I'm not holding my breath. Their asking for 50k donations for lifetime members. Which tells me they are short funding. I would love to see it happen but I'm reminded it's almost March and and I have not seen anything being built and basically six months to build a 40k sq ft facility. I'm not sure there going to make it even if all their ducks are in a row.Keith B wrote:There have been a couple of attempts to start ranges over in that area. Then I'm reminded of the VERY long wait for Dallas gun club and in my dreamy little head think that if someone were to do the planning and have a valid well laid out plan something like that could probably work in this part of town. I do hope the big range comes about but still am curious about what it would take. I may indeed look into the link you posted. Thanks....
