Hey Guys,
I live around Austin. Is there an open piece of land where I can shoot my pistols and long guns? I would like to practice drawing etc. Also, is there a range around Austin where I can shoot CQC metal targets?
Sorry I tried searching.....
Thanks.

Lone Star Gun Range south east of austin in Lockhart is great. It's a bit of a drive but worth it.T Bone wrote:Hey Guys,

The Austin Rifle Club is located about 15 miles east of Austin. It is a private club requiring membership (guests are allowed for a limited number of visits). It has 10 different ranges with shooting allowed at distances from 7 yards to 200 yard. Drawing from the holster is allowed (must be sighted fire, no hip shooting).T Bone wrote:Hey Guys,

You can shoot at steel during organized practice sessions or matches that are supervised by a certified Safety Officer.
You can also shoot steel silhouette targets (not really CQB) at approved ranges.
See the Web site for complete info.

Best of The West up by Liberty Hill allows working out of the holster. I'm not sure of their steel target policy.

I've had good experiences with this place as well and recommend it. It's worth the trip, but I'll bet there's good BBQ somewhere nearby to make it worth your time.loadedliberal wrote:Lone Star Gun Range south east of austin in Lockhart is great. It's a bit of a drive but worth it.
